A/N; Hey so this is my first *attempt* at poetry on here and I decided to put together a collection that I could add to whenever inspiration struck. Please be gentle, I'm normally an author not a poet so yeah, but I'd love to know what you think. This one is something I just randomly thought of and I'll add others as and when! Enjoy and please comment/vote if you like. :3

Looking in the mirror.

Looking in the mirror,

Hating what you see,

Doesn’t only happen,

To people like you and me.

That girl who bullies you every day,

Calling you ugly, calling you fat,

She’s not the only one who worries,

That’s a sure fact.

The kid who tells you,

You look like a nerd,

You’d think from their own experiences,

That they’d have learnt.

Because they go home,

Each and every night,

Stand by the mirror,

Study their face in every light.

The pressure to master,

That state of perfection,

So much that they too,

Can’t stand their own reflection.

They know what it’s like,

To feel put down,

Yet still they insist,

On knocking you to the ground.

Society is,

 As society does;

We all want to have,

That body men love.

There’s so much pressure,

To look just right,

From celebrities, friends,

Is there ever a light?

Showing the end,

That you can break out the cycle,

Of needing to look perfect,

Beauty recital after recital.

Society is,

As society does.

A subject you must,

Treat with kid gloves.

Yet does nobody see,

What it does to you and me?

Fake.

Ugly.

Fat.

It all adds up,

To someone like you and me.
