Chapter One: Fairy Tail

I finally opened the eye I had left and looked up into an unfamiliar ceiling. I reached for my left eye, hoping something, anything would be there. A thin cloth was in my eye's stead.

"Don't cry you big baby." I looked over to see a familiar face. The way her hair fell into her face reminded me of cherry blossom trees. I always loved her pink coloured hair.

"I'm scared, Tsukiko." My voice broke and it sounded rough. I coughed roughly and let a tear escape me.

"Don't be. Master Makarov took us in. We're safe now."

"I... Don't know who that is." She could see the fear in my eye.

"I told you to stop being a baby!" she yelled. I bit my lip and wiped my face.

"I'm sorry. I'm just scared. This shouldn't have happened to kids our age."

"Don't you think I already know that? I'm scared too but we need to be strong for each other."

"Okay." I tried to sit myself up but lost strength in my arm and fell back down to the bed. "How long have I been out, exactly?"

"Too long if you ask me. A week, maybe. I lost count."

"What guild are we in anyways?"

"The most popular. Fairy Tail." I stared at her in shock.

"What?" I couldn't believe it. "They're the only people to have taken us-" I was interrupted by the infirmary door slamming against the wall. She seemed so strong wearing that armour.

"Hello, I'm Er-" she stared right at me. I believe it was the eye patch. "Not you too."

"What? Miss, what do you mean?"

"What happened to your eye?"

"A dark guild that I grew up in attacked Tsukiko's village after I ran away to live there."

"I will make them regret doing this to you," she said with so much pain and began to walk out.

"No, wait! Please don't anger them more!" She glanced back at me.

"Why? Aren't you mad?" She stopped and stared at me.

"They've already taken too much from me. Please. Don't leave." I started to cry and sat myself up, again. She walked over and sat on the end of my bed.

"You need to be strong. What's your name?"

"Oni. Oni Akagawa. And this is my friend, Tsukiko Amachi. Who are you exactly?"

"Erza Scarlet. Welcome to your new home, Fairy Tail." I wiped my eye again and looked up at her. I will never forget that smile.
