Lauren Quinto

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock, shutting it off without opening an eye, not wanting to go off my bed so I hid myself with the covers. After a deep breath, I lifted my head up as I opened my eyes, clearing them with both of my hands. I turned my body sidewards so my feet fell to the cold ground as I stared blankly to the polished wood tiles with my hands near on both sides of my hips gripping on the bed sheets. I started to get my sleeping mind to work, unleashing it to the depths of being dazed for about five minutes now. I stood up and yawned, fixing my dark brown hair afterwards as I walked out of my cozy room, meeting the smell of my aunt probably cooking. I walked down stairs going straight ahead to the kitchen counter where aunt is cooking bacon and eggs for breakfast. "Good morning aunt." I finally spoke as I took a seat. "Morning darling, how's your sleep?" she asked with her back turned to me. "It was fine." I told her, morning conversations with my aunt always start with these sentences. I have been with my Aunt for seventeen years now-and yes, I am seventeen years old, spending my whole life with her and her daughter Samuella, or as she prefers to be called, Sam. We have been treating each other as sisters. And I have a best friend named Lucian, a few houses far from our house. I have been found in front of the house as a baby, in a big woven basket with a little white blanket wrapped around me and in it, there is a black word stitched with the color of black, 'Quinto' (kinto). It also contains a note saying 'please take good care of her' and birth certificate documents to be filled up. I never really cared about being this, this is my family. This is my home. I felt someone pat me in the back so I shrugged the thoughts filling my head. "Good morning Lauren." I looked back to Sam knowing she's the one who patted me. "Good morning Sam." It was a sunday and school is done already. I mean, it has a vacation for a year, because this year will cause so much lives and we all know that. We all do. Because in this year, the elemental war will take place. I wonder if the four elements of each group are training already,or if they even do. Noone knows who they are because they know that the other group will take advantage. We braced ourselves feeling very unlucky, living in the generation where they will have to fight. [And if you didn't know about the elemental war, I will briefly explain this to you. There are four elements of peace and four elements of darkness, these said groups has to fight in order to rule the world. They will always be four and will always be four. If an element live to a generation where the war will not take place, they are lucky. But sometimes, they still kill each other even though it will make no difference, theu will still reincarnate into another currently living person, and they still can't rule the world. And in a generation of the elemental war, if one element dies, it will not reincarnate for 12 days, giving both groups the chance to kill each other without them reincarnating, the key to win] Lucky for me to live in a generation where the peace rules. I stood up as I finished the bacons mom had given me walking all the way upstairs and changing my clothes to comfortable ones, so I could atleast be a little active. I slipped on my gray sweatpants and a white comfy sweatshirt then walked down stairs. I pulled my long hair into a ponytail and sat in the couch and as I was about to get the remote, someone rang the doorbell. "Lauren, can you please see who ramg the doorbel?" my mom shouted asking.
"Im coming." I shouted to whoever it is on the door. I opened it and saw my bestfriend, Lucian.
"Hey!" I greeted him with a bright smile. It's strange how he could be here in 9:00 in the morning (my family are filled with morning people, well, were only three people in the house) "Why are you here? It's so early. I bet you got kicked out of your house again because of being such a lazy head." I went on. "Can we like, have time, with each other?" He suddenly asked. What's with this guy? "Okay?" I said with a hint of confusion in my tone. "Where?" I asked. "Here. I wanna spend time at home." He said emphasizing the word 'home'. Lucian has always been in this house. Since we met in our 5mfour year old life, he's been drawn to me and to this house. I'm closer to him than I am to my own aunt and to Sam. And when I refer to home, he is the perfect definition. We went upstairs after informing mom that Lucian came to hang out and we went upstairs to my room. I turned the television on and handed him the remote as we both laid in the bed and ticked ourselves in the big white comfy blanket. He put he's left arm around me with my head on his chest. (a/n they are just bestfriends, but treats each other like super close siblings) We watched a movie on Netflix and just cuddled there, forgetting the world. Forgetting everything. The movie ended and I asked him if he wanted to go out. Earning a nod, I fixed my hair but didn't change my clothes except for grabbing a gray jacket, I am totally fine by this. We walked downstairs asking permission for my mom who I know will agree, and said went straight out of the house. We first walked to the poor guy we always see everyday, I dont know why but I just feel like that guy is already a part of my family. Literally, a part of it. I gave him his meal for today which contained bacons, two sandwiches, two eggs, a can of sausage and four bottles of water. He smiled brightly as we gave him the food and said another infinity thank you's that he always does every day. "That's all I can do I guess, knowing I can't do anything about you sleeping here every night, I mean it's too cold." I said looking at the surroundings, whis is a walking side near the road. Lucian has been acting weird today, he came early to hang out, and now, he's avoiding to look at the poor guy. He didn't even talk to him, for the first time. They always talk. Until now, I guess. We walked away from the man heading to the park near Lucian's house. "What's wrong with you?" I finally had the guts to ask. "What do you mean?" he's playing the inoccent game again. "You've been acting weird." I said pointing to his actions. "Nothing." he simply said and shrugged. I put my arms on the pockets of my jacket, still wondering what's happened to him. Maybe I should just shrug it off too.

We came back to our house, tired. We came to many places today, many familiar places. We went to almost every place we used spent time together at. It was already eight in the evening and it's oh so cold outside. We stopped infront of the door. I turned to him, making me turn my back from the door. "Wow, that was fun. And tiring." I said smiling. This day is actually one of the happiest days in my life. "I know." he smiled widely. "But it may be the last." he said. What? What the fudge is this guy talking about? "What the heck are you talking about?" I said with a cock of an eyebrow. He just chuckled. "Dont say that again. Ever." I said firmly. He stopped and looked at me intently, I stared back at his dark brown eyes and black curly hair. His tanned skin, he looks asian. "Goodnight, Lauren Quinto." he said. My heart beat is starting to get faster. I dont know why but something is making me worry. "Goodnight, I guess." I said, but it appears to be a mumble. "What ever happens, I love you, Okay?" he said. He is literally freaking weird right now. I mean, we say that to each other. But usually not this way, he seems so serious. I just looked at him. "bye." he said. He turned his back and started to walk. "I hope I'll see you again." he mumbled. What is he saying? He stopped, looked at me and said, "I'll be gone for a while, Lauren, I'll be busy with something." he said. I still wasn't speaking. He continued to walk.
