Cat:too bad, Macky, no one is safe!
-----
Cold air burned your thoat and chest as you ran. Mud soaked your thin footwraps, hot tears streaming down your cheeks. The ground came rushing to your face as your tiny ankle caught between a tree root and the dirt. You yelped in pain and desperately tried to fight it free,to no avail. You coughed and cried, the gaurds quickly found you.
You clutched a tiny golden snake bracelet in your palm, which was the reason you were in this mess. The gaurds had claimed you had stolen it, being as you were just a peasant orphan in rags. They rip you from the ground, the root snapping and sending a sear pain up your leg. You cry out, only to be silenced by a fist hitting you in the temple.
The ground was a bitting cold, and chilled your fragile frame to the core. Your head pounded, your leg burned, and your stomach ached from hunger. You had been left in a tiny cell beneath the palace. You didnt know what to do. You didnt want to die, especially for sometging you didnt do. All you knew how to do at this point was cry. Your body raked from your sobs, small moans escaped your mouth.
Ermac was making his rounds around the prison. He cared little for the prisoners, or what they had done. Until a crying child caught his eye. His emrald gaze fell on you, small , hungry, dirty, with matted (h/c) locks, and tear filled (e/c) orbs. A tatted brown rag-dress covered your torso, torn wraps around your injured and worked limbs. Ermac felt a small tinge of feeling in his chest. Without thinking, he approched you, watching you twitch and groan. "What are you here for?" He asked.
Your gleaming (e/c) eyes opened slightly to see the mummy in black and red. Your body jumped, and you immediately scooted away in terror, a fearful cry escaping you. "Please dont hurt me! I swear i didnt steal it!" You beg in a hoarse, strained young voice.
Ermac's eyes did not leave you. He suddenly felt pity, something he hadnt known he was capible of. Ermac's boots hit he floor, and he knelt down to look at you. "Steal what?" He asked with his echo soothing your head slightly. You were shaking violently, and swallowed feeling like sandpaper was in your thoat.
You slowly move your hand, pointing out the thin golden band with scales eched into it. Ermac curiously tilted his head, examining the bracelet. He finally git back on his feet and opened the door. You flinch instinctively, only to have him gentally put his gloved hand on your head. You shyly open your eyes, whimpering softly. "Where did you get it, then?"
"M...my mother...she...she died...it was hers." You choke out. Ermac slowly petted your head, and looked you over. "Who....who are you..." You ask.
"We are known as Ermac." He says softly, a couple of green souls flying around his torso and legs. You blink a few times and rub your eyes.
"I....im (y/n)" you say, timidly holding out your hand. Ermac put his much larger hand over yours and smiled. You didnt knkw what to do, or what to say, so you shly look at the floor. Ermac suddenly wraps his arms around you and lifts your tiny frame from the floor. You grab onto him for safty and hide your face his chest in fear of being dropped. He gives a small chuckle and begins to float again. When he started to move you spoke up. "M-mr.Ermac where are we going?"
"To the Emperor." He said holding you close. The emperor? What would he want? Why would he want to see some kid off the street destined for the chopping block? You hold onto Ermac, hopeing he was helping. For some reason you felt safe in his arms, no one had held you, or even showed any sort of affection to you after your mother's death. It was like the way she held you when you were tired and couldn't walk.
Ermac brought you before the emperor, Kotal Kahn, sitting on his throne. "Who is this, Ermac?" Kotal asked with curiosity in his tone.
"A prisoner."
"This child? A prisoner? What for?"
"Theivery. We suspect she is innocent."
Kotal stared at you. "Girl." He spoke "what is it you alegidly stole?"
You gulped and pointed at your wrist. "M-my mother's bracelet..." You said trying not to hide againt Ermac.
"Why doesnt your mother have it?'
"She....she died."
Kotal's gaze softened, thinking of his own family who had long passed. "Where is your home, child?"
"I...i dont have one."
"Hmmm...then, she'll be taken to the nearest orphanage-"
"We will take her." Ermac suddenly interrupted the emporer. Kotal let the interruption slide this time, more concerned with your fate.
"You are sure, Ermac? You can care for a young child? Alone?" Kotal was qestioning his parenting skills. Especially since you'd be in the palace, with Erron, d'vorah, reptile, and elder gods knows the rest of the people who pass through.
"We can care for, (y/n). She will not be an issue." Ermac was oddly adamit about this.
"She can stay in the room accross form yours then." Kotal sighs. Ermac gave a weak smile and started out of the room. Erron was looking back at the door and Kotal, D'vorah staring directly at kotal, and reptiles eyes where fixed on ermacs trail. Each one stunned.
Ermac was carrying you down the hall. "Mr.Ermac?" You asked softly. "Why did you do that?" You were puzzled as to why of all people he would get you pardoned anf then offer to take care of you. Ermac halted.
"You...we care for what happens to you." He said. "And right now, you need a bath, and food."
