Melody's P.O.V
The smell of bacon woke me up. Which was followed by my alarm. I groggily rose my head up from my pillow. I yawned stretching my arms and back. I eventually got up and checked my phone.
Darling: Good morning cupcake see you in twenty minutes!
I rolled my eyes and threw my phone back on my bed. I put my red slippers on and went toward my bathroom. I turned on the lights and stared at my reflection.
"Ew," I muttered to myself.
Dried drool on the left cheek and dark eye circles around my dark brown eyes. I took my retainer off and brushed my teeth.
I turned the lights off and walked toward my closet. I slipped on some light blue washed jeans, a simple white t-shirt and I tucked it in the front part of the shirt in the pants. I sat on my vanity and undid my wet shower, braided hair from the night before which let my hair enhance its natural waves. I put my thick, wavy, dark brown hair a half up half down pony tail and tied it with a light pink ribbon. Put on some pearl earrings my mom got me and a thin gold chain with a small heart.
I walked out of my room and was met with the T.V. on and breakfast on the table.
"Good morning Mel, Michael made breakfast today and I have your lunch in the fridge," she said with a smile towards me.
"Thanks Bailey," and looked at Michael who sat in front of the table eating eggs. "Thanks for the breakfast."
I sat down at the table eating my eggs and bacon checking my snapchat and Tumblr.
"Melody no phones at the table." Bailey nagged.
I put down my phones and apologized. She smiled at me and gave me another piece of bacon.
Bailey is my twenty year old cousin. I've been living with her and her boyfriend Michael for a few months after my parents and sister moved to Atlanta after my dad got a promotion. So my cousin suggested I move in with her till I finish my last year of high school.
"Thanks for the breakfast. Stella's picking me up in a few minutes," I put my plates in the sink and was walking back to my room.
I grabbed my pink backpack and lunchbox, slipped on some white converse. I grabbed the house keys and walked outside.
"Wait melody, your glasses." Bailey sped up to me. Handing my nerdy, black framed glasses.
"Oh thank god! I'm so glad you remembered."
"You need to stop forgetting stuff, yesterday you forgot your shoes. Good luck on your AP Calculus test," She gave me a hug and walked back into the apartment.
I waited for about three minutes until I see Stella's blue van pull up onto my driveway.
"Hey Darling," I said as I jumped into her car.
"Hey cupcake did you prepare for your test?"
"Ya, how about your French test?"
She rolled her eyes and started to back up the car.
I met Stella, short for Estella, back in 6th grade, we became friends by her sitting behind me in gym and was continually poking me and eventually asked to be my friend and after 7 years our friendship has grown even stronger by the day. She's confident, smart, funny, sarcastic, and basically the opposite of me. Even though her name means star in Latin, she has no trace of Latin in her. Her mom named her after her caretaker when she was a child and made a promise to her that her first daughter will be named after her, and she kept that promise. She has dirty blonde/ auburn hair up to her mid back. She is short with amber eyes. She is wearing a high waisted black skater skirt and a grey cropped sweater with a harry potter deathly hallows necklace.
"Don't get me started. I hate advance placement French I mean I was up till one studying and I still don't know how to end an essay." She sighed and turned on the radio.
I laughed a little." Well I can't help with that cause I didn't take French but you can ask Kate."
"Oh right you took Spanish, loser." I punched her arm softly.
A little while later we entered our stereotypical high school. Westwood High school. There's nothing unique about our high school. It's a normal public school. A school with high school football games, pep rallies, grotesque bathrooms, its cliques and of course the popular group.
Stella and I walked into the school and I put on headphones in letting one hang out so I can be able to talk to Stella while being able to hear her. We reached our lockers and put in our locker combinations.
"Hey did Sam tell you about how her date went last night?"
"No why did something bad happen?"
She smirked," You tell me, he took her to a nice restaurant and he ended up hooking up with the waitress."
"No. He did not."
"Yup and I had to pick ther up."
I scoffed, "Man that's awful." I grabbed my romantic novel from my locker followed by two other books falling out of my locker.
"Seriously Mel, I like books but this is too much."
"I'm sorry", I bent down to grab my books and put them back into my locker. As I shut my locker and Stella hit my shoulder. It hurt.
"Ouch what did you do that for?" I yelled rubbing the spot she hit.
"Stop apologizing! You apology whore." She laughed
"Stop calling me that." I rolled my eyes and laughed. We walked to our usual spot by the bleachers to meet our other friends.
Samantha or Sam was standing with her back turned to us and was talking to our other friend rose.
Sam was pale, short with light brown hair up to her shoulder with a middle part pulled into a low ponytail and freckles spread all over her face and brown eyes. She has on a white sleeveless collar shirt and shorts.
Rose was taller than the rest of the gang. She was has layered blonde hair up to her shoulders with a middle part and light blue eyes. She had on a light washed jean skirt and a black t-shirt on.
We were all were best friends and always did everything together. We all met back in sixth grade and now senior year our friendship is as close as ever. We all have our rolls in our group. Sam is the mom because of her bossy and leadership characteristic. Rose is the big sister, she is responsible abut likes to be irresponsible once in a while. Stella is the drunk uncle, the fun one that doesn't care for rules and has all eyes on her. And me, the baby. I don't understand why. It doesn't make sense. They say that because I am the youngest and I am very childish and innocent, I am the baby.
My friends are really pretty. Okay that's an understatement. They are gorgeous. They all have received various attention from the male species. Each one of them has had a significant other but not me. I am the only one who has never had a boyfriend, ever gotten hit on or never has had someone love them. But hey it's okay, there will be a time.
I hope.
"Hey Sam I heard what happened last night, you okay?" I asked concerned.
Sam turned around and smiled," I'm fine, I didn't like him anyways. Plus who goes on a date on Thursday." She laughed.
We talked, and met up with other friends until the bell rang as we went our separate ways to first period.
