chapter seven- dependent of you

"And he didn't?"

"No, that's why I called you. He called me back saying he was busy and wouldn't be coming back yesterday night and probably not today either." I explain, popping an m&m in my mouth.

"Complete bullshit."

"Excuse you?" I say, pausing the TV to react to her comment.

"Not on your part, on his. He totally just made up that excuse to avoid the inevitable awkward conversations you'd have when he got home."

I groan, "He's completely overthinking this. It's really not that big of a deal."

"Really?" Gigi asks, raising an eyebrow.

I roll my eyes, "Yes, really. He's misreading the situation."

"He is?" She states, sipping her coffee.

"Gigi!" I whine.

She laughs, "I'm sorry it's just- since the moment I got here all we've talked about is him. Like, as one of your best friends I don't mind, it's just..." I give her a look that says continue. "It's just for someone you swear annoys the hell out of you, you gotta admit he has made an impression on you."

"He's literally my dorm-mate; of course he's made an impression on me. I am with him almost 24/7." I say slightly agitated.

"I know but," She exhales, "He accused you of flirting but yet you haven't denied doing so?"

"I have a boyfriend, Gigi." I assure her, pretending to be more involved in my candy than what she has to say.

"See there you go again. You're not denying the matter you're just changing the subject!" she validates, visibly excited that she had proved her point. Gigi had never been a fond supporter of me and Liam's relationship, she had always thought of it to be more of a convenience than a legitimate connection.

"Or I'm just ignoring you."

"Okay I'm not going to fight you on this; I just want you to think about it." She sets her drink onto the table and takes the remote. Turning the TV off she looks at me, "Also, I think you've had enough moping around today. Let's go out and do something fun!"

"I'm not moping around, I'm just tired."

"Aria, you slept in until noon and have spent the four hours since then propped in front of the television eating junk food." She says attempting to grab the nearly empty m&m bag out of my hand. Instead of refusing, I give in to her withdrawal and decide to go along with whatever activity she has in store for today.

I watch as she tours the dorm looking for something that might be enjoyable- that's when she comes across my recently purchased yoga mat. She picks it up and gives me a look that reads "how about this?". I nod, and with that she announces that she has one as well, and that she's going to retrieve it from her car.

"You know this should really be a weekly thing." Gigi suggests while stretching her limbs.

I laugh lightly. It's only typical for Gigi to keep continually trying to add more endeavors to her already packed schedule. "I'd agree if you had the room for it."

Two minutes in to what has to be the fifth consecutive meditational exercise video, and a cellphone starts to ring. I know it isn't mine by the fact that the ringtone is an actual song rather than just a defaulted tune. Gigi pauses the video and answers her phone.

"Hello?"

"Oh I'm sorry to hear that."

"No it's fine."
