The next day I laid in my bed just staring at the ceiling. Something about Hunter just stuck with me; was it his smile, his hair, his voice, or his seemingly all around perfection that intrigued me so much? Lost in my thoughts, I almost didn't hear someone knock on the door.
I assumed my mom had locked herself out, since she had left for the store about an hour before.
I made my way downstairs, dressed in a tank top and sweatpants with my hair in a messy bun. I opened the door, expecting to see my mom, however, before me stood the boy I had been thinking about all night; Hunter.
"Oh, um, hey Hunter." I stuttered, caught off guard and suddenly regretting my fashion choices.
"Hey Mackenzie! Sorry to just show up out of no where but I didn't have your number..." He started, trailing off.
"Don't worry about it, what's up?"
"I was sort of wondering, you know since I'm new here, if you would be up to showing me around?" He asked.
"Yeah, sure! Just give me a minute to get ready. You can come up to my room if you want." I said.
He followed me up the stairs to my room and sat on my bed while I began to look for an outfit.
"You, uh, got a nice room." He said, trying to break the silence.
"Thanks, I'll be right back, I'm just going to go quickly change." I said while heading off to the bathroom. There, I put on a random sweatshirt, leggings, and Uggs.
I went back to my room to find Hunter still sitting on my bed on his phone.
"Well you look nice." He said while looking up at me.
"Thanks, but no." I said with a small laugh. I literally looked like if Mark Del Figalo and Quinn from Zoey101 had a kid, but I appreciated the compliment anyway.
I walked over to my mirror and looked at myself. I decided that the messy bun was good enough, put on perfume, and since I didn't wear makeup I was all ready to go.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Yeah, where do you want to go first?"
**Two Hours Later**
Hunter and I were currently walking back to our houses after what felt like the best day ever. We went all around town, laughing, learning about each other, and overall having a great time.
When we finally reached my porch at the end of the night, Hunter and I turned and looked at each other.
"Hunter, I really can't thank you enough for tonight. I really haven't had such a fun time since my best friend moved away a couple years ago, and I just wanted to thank you for that." I said while looking up at him.
"I should be the one thanking you, Mackenzie. You were the first person to give me a chance and be my friend." He said while smiling.
"Well," I said breaking eye contact, "I should probably get inside."
"Okay, i'll hopefully see you tomorrow." He said while I opened the door.
I started walking inside before he spoke again.
"Mackenzie, um, one last thing."
"Yeah?" I asked, spinning around.
He stepped towards me and his eyes searched mine, as if rethinking what he was about to do next.
And next thing I knew, his lips were on mine.
