<Hello readers. I'm Brie. So, this story originally began as a narrative for my 8th grade accelerated English class. The part I turned into class is actually chapter 2. I am working on a cover image right now. It will probably change from time to time because I am in fact drawing them by hand so don't mind the imperfections, I'm not a natural artist, just a perfectionist. 😉 So here's chapter 1. Thanks! Hope you like it!>
Chapter 1
I looked down at the small piece of paper I held in my hand and then up at the high school in front of me. No, I was not going to be attending a new school or anything along those lines. I was looking for someone. Someone kind of like me. A little while back I had heard some rumors about a genetically enhanced person. At first I thought that's all they were, rumors. But, for the sake of possibilities I looked deeper into it and found out something incredible. It was true. On that tiny piece of paper held all of the information I'd compiled which, sadly, wasn't very much. I'd learned the person was a girl, which came as a relief. "Okay, so she is a student here at Clerefeld High School. She hasn't attended that long, only around four months. The majority of my sources have said something along the lines of her being: A. genetically enhanced B. genetically altered or C. genetically modified. So, somethings screwed up with her DNA I'm guessing. Sounds fun," I found myself muttering it all out loud. "Alright, so next, I should find her in the chemistry lab, room 3006 in the main hallway. I better get going, she's probably waiting." I began to walk towards the main building ahead.
I jogged up the steps and into the hallway of the school. Luckily, I found a directory for the school campus. I spotted the science lab quite quickly and I was very close. To the right, three classrooms down, and on the left side of the hallway. I began to walk away from the map and to the classrooms. I noticed how heavy my footsteps were on the tile and attempted to soften them. I failed at it though. My right leg was too heavy and probably still is. I didn't really mind the weight behind each step. I loved the steady rhythm. I looked at my little page one more time and read the final detail. 'Her initials are L.R.' L.R.? I wondered what it could possibly stand for. I reached the door then, it was closed. I noticed there were two doors, like for most classrooms, and the second door was wide open, just a little farther down the hall.
I walked up to the second door and peered inside. There was a girl with her back to me standing there. She wore what appeared to be the school's uniform, a white collared shirt and a black skirt with a few extra layers of a black chiffon-like fabric. She was leaning over a table working with chemicals I thought. I wasn't sure what to do because I didn't want to startle her. However, just as I was thinking that. I sneezed. Really loudly.
"Bless you," she stated merrily, stunning me.
"Um, hi. Are you L.R.?"
"Yep, that's me!" she rejoiced in her answer. "You must be the girl I was scheduled to see. And you are?"
"I'm Tylem."
