A low hum came from the machine as it linked over the almost black circle, becoming louder and louder while an answering glow came from within the circle that got brighter and brighter.  You'd want to hope your girlfriend is still alive in there Steve or you'll miss out on some unforgettable sex, they say those that survive make great l... CRACK.   Dave's head hit the floor with a thump, alright alright Steve, I'm sorry for the comments; geez you must really like this one.  Steve ignored him, concentrating; almost willing the woman back.

A wet sound suddenly rang out in the room followed by long low moaning, without speaking both men turned towards the circle and stared.
'Holy shit, it worked' Dave yelled and started to walk towards the woman now lying in a grey circle on the floor writhing in complete unawareness of any other being in the room. Steve shoved him back almost snarling, get away from her, get out now, leave! Alright, alright Steve, I just wanted to have a closer look at her, make sure she's alright, yeah well I'll do that Dave, you go get lunch and I'll have her settled by the time you get back. As he left Dave yelled out; don't do anything stupid Steve she can't see you or sense you remember.

Yes I know Steve muttered to himself as he drew closer to the beautiful woman lying naked on the ground at his feet contorting slowly as she lay there, why can't there be someone like you for me he said to himself, I'd make love to you forever and never let you go as he slowly lowered himself down next to her watching and wishing but he knew humans couldn't see them or sense them he could only watch and talk to himself as she recovered bit by bit. I would hold you and make you forget what the neverworlders did to you, I'd kiss your neck, run my tongue slowly down to your breast where I would slowly suck and tease you until you begged for more.
He continued to tell her what he would do to her naked body to make her forget as he watched her slowly shudder to a halt and open her eyes, looking straight ahead at the roof starting to breath more normally again. Steve smiled sadly and told her more of what he would do, knowing his favourite ward would never hear or know he was ever there, but as he continued to talk she seemed to still then worsen again as her breathing became ragged and  quicker. Oh please be ok Steve breathed to her softly, I couldn't bear it, I would do anything to stop the agony for you he almost sobbed. If only I could, how can the makers be so cruel to us, knowing we love our wards but can never have them or be with them Steve muttered to himself still sitting next to the woman.
He worried she seemed to be almost frantic now breathing wildly, eyes darting around the room but never leaving the floor. You must calm down my love he whispered as he had done for years to her and she stilled. What? he thought to himself it cannot be me, they cannot hear us and he sighed loudly. She twitched.
