Flipping through the colorful pages of my notebook was exhausting. I'm studying for the finals and I want to get top on it. I'm one of the honors in mathematics, so I really pay attention to,..basically everything related to math.
My brother was top last year, and I'm gonna beat him this year. That thought made me persistent through out the year, so I better not mess it up now. If he becomes rank one again, he'll never let me hear the end of it.
I rummage for my laptop and portable computer mouse inside my school bag. I close my notebook and start resting my mind. I need a few computer games to make me feel relaxed. I work like that.
I clicked on the first game I saw. Then I press start. I moved the computer mouse and clicked on several parts of the screen. Believe me, I never played this particular game before. But... I think I'm winning.
"Brigitte! Can you come here?!" Game Over.
I banged my fists on my study table and glared at the laptop screen. I pointed my middle finger at it. "Screw you stupid game!" So maybe I didn't win. Sad life.
I groaned and stood up from the chair and headed for my sister's bedroom. Her room was beside my bedroom, so I practically hear anything she says. Even when she whispers, seriously, that girl has a very loud whisper.
"What do you want, Brooklyn?" I stopped near her door. It was widely open, and I didn't have to twist the doorknob, push the door, enter using the door and tell her not to disturb me while I'm studying for finals. Wait, that was specific. Maybe saying "don't bother me while I'm studying for anything," was a better choice.
Before she could say anything, I took a long look at her. She was only wearing a tank top and short shorts in our house. Is that even legal?
"I'm having trouble with areas." She tells me. Now my attention was focused on areas. I blinked.
I gasped at her. Seriously, area? That's basic Mathematics 101! Too simple! "Brook, area is a flat, or plane figure that is the number of unit squares that can be contained within it. The unit square is usually some standard unit, like a square meter, a square foot, or a square inch." I answered her.
She widened her eyes and she gaped at me. "I-I don't get it."
I rolled my eyes and placed my hands on my waist. If you don't like my answer, go to Blaine! "Okay, can you tell me why?"
"Well," she begins. "Your answer is kinda complicated."
I cocked an eyebrow at her. "Kinda complicated?"
"Okay, okay, you got me. Extremely complicated. Can you simplify your answer to the simplest term?" I can't believe she said that. Now it was my turn to gasp. I didn't know she could speak my language!
I open my mouth to say my simpler answer. But I couldn't seem to find my words. Only air came out of my mouth. All my intelligence,.. led to nothing??
I tried to just shrug it off. "Just memorize the formulas and you'll be fine." I started to walk out her room and close the door.
"Wait! I still need a short definition of area! You have go-" I didn't hear the rest of it. I closed the door and headed to my room. I'm a horrible sister.
I entered my room once again. The smell of practice test papers welcomed me. I like that smell. Why do I like it? Everyone in school hates exam papers in school, so why expect them to like practice papers? I guess I'm weird that way.
