Chapter 6 : Transfer Student
“Mi mi, a... Mi mi, a... ” said someone shaking me. “It's time for you to go to school. Wakey wakey..” “Huuhhh?? Who are you?” “Ya, you forgot your own oppa?” he said pouting. “Oppa? Minhyuk oppa?” I said groggily. “Who else? I'm your only oppa.” Well there's also Myungsoo, you know. I thought. “Unless... Ya! Han Raemi, do you have a boyfriend already?” he asked suspiciously. “Mwo?!! EOBSEO!!!” I said sitting up. “Well, that woke you up, huh?” He laughed. “Get out of bed now, dear sister. Grandmother's made breakfast.” he said kissing my forehead. He was always sweet to me. “Euuu..” I grumbled. Grandmother's breakfast is a always to die for. She made my brother and I healthy 'cause of that. In case you're wondering, my oppa and I live with my grandmother and grandfather. My parents? They died in a car accident three years ago.

“Oppa, grandmother, grandfather..” I called, “I'm going!” “Be careful on your way home Raemi, a” “Yes, grandfather..” I answered politely and made my way to school.
When I got to school, something did not feel right. Then I remembered that I became the president of our class yesterday. I sighed loudly. Remembering the duties I had to take care of... the scheduling of cleaning duties, the class activites I had to facilitate, the collecting of late and violation fines, and.... well, you get the point. I was walking toward the classroom when our adviser called me. “Raemi, come to my office for a while. I'd like you to meet someone.” Who could it be? I thought.
When we reached her office, she turned around and said, “Raemi, this is Song Eunhae, our transfer student. Song Eunhae, this is Han Raemi, your president.” she said addressing to a girl sitting. The girl was pretty. I could tell that she was rich. No one carries a bag like that. She had full lips and high cheek bones. Pretty.. I just hope she's also beautiful.
“Annyeonghaseyo, Han Raemi shi.” she said bowing to me. “Uhh.. there's no need to bow. Hi, it's nice to meet you.” “Now that you two know each other, Raemi..” she said looking at me “I'll leave her to you.” “Ne, seonsaengnim.”
We were walking together when I decided to break the silence. “You know, if you don't want to be hated, you better stay away from me.” “Wae? I don't see anything wrong with you.” She answered. “Really? Thanks. You're the only one who says that. As you may notice later on, I don't have many friends. Actually, I don't have one. Why? Don't you have anything to say about my appearance?” I stopped and faced her. “Umm.. No. I don't see any. You're actually pretty, you just have a little acne but that's normal, considering our age and everything. You're 17?” I shook my head. “Nope. Sixteen.” “Really? Me too. It's rare to see someone who's sixteen in our grade. But anyway, going back, I don't mind being your friend. I'm pretty sure you're a good person, it's just that people don't get to see who you really are.” “How do you know that? You hardly know me. We only met a few minutes ago.” I asked. “I'm always good at reading people. I've never been wrong.” she said hooking her arms around mine and smiled. I'm liking this girl. “Thanks. I appreciate it.” “There's no need. Now, why don't you show me our classroom now. Then later during the lunch break, you can show me around the campus. Well, you know, we need to eat first before that.”
When we reached the room, I told her to sit in front of me since there was an empty seat. Then myungsoo came. She looked at me with widened eyes. I figured she was mentally asking me who myungsoo was so I said, “Myungsoo shi, this is Song Eunhae, our new classmate. She was supposed to come yesterday but there was some problem.” I looked at Eunhae, “Eunhae, this is Kim Myungsoo, our vice president.” “Annyeonghaseyo, it's nice to meet you” Eunhae beemed with her smile. “It's nice to meet you, too.” Myungsoo said and concentrated on somewhere else. Eunhae looked at me as if asking, “Why did I do something wrong?”. I looked at her to and gave her a look that says, “Later... during the break. The teacher's here.” I think she got the message because she winked at me and turned to face the board.
The classes were almost the same. Every teacher started by asking who the transfer student was, then in turn asked Eunhae to introduce herself to them. After that, they would start the orientation for their subject. It was pretty boring, actually, but I did my best to stay a wake. Myungsoo, on the other hand, was sleeping. But apparently, the teachers just let him slide because he gets good grades anyway. I wonder how he does that. Then the class ended with me doing my job. After eons of waiting and waiting, the bell finally rang, signalling the break. Eunhae jump from her seat and looked at me with those eyes of hers like a child, “SO.... Raemi a, where do we eat? You're still gonna tour me so let's hurry up!” she smiled brightly at me. “You sure are excited, huh?” she nodded. “Come on, let's go down at the cafeteria.”
Once at the cafeteria, we ordered our food and I led her toward the seats when she said, “Can't we eat outside? The weather's so nice today that I want to eat out.” “Really, me too. I wanted to eat out but figured you probably wanted to eat inside.” This girl's a lot like me. “Oh who would want to eat, here? That's too boring! Let's go.” So, we went outside. As soon as we sat, she said, “Soo... who is this Kim Myungsoo.” “I just told you right? He's our vice president” “Oh. I know that..”waving a hand at me. “I mean, hello, where are the juicy details of school.” she continued. “You're quick. Okay, let me begin. First of all, he's the campus crush. Sort of the perfect guy for girls. As you saw a while ago, he's pretty handsome.” “Not just 'pretty', he's really handsome but he's pretty cold to people.” she said pouting. “Aniya.. he's not. He's not just used to you yet.” “So, you're close to each other?” Are we close? I thought. Well, he did ask me to call him 'oppa' but no, let's not say that. “Close? No were not.” “As if, he talked to you a while ago. Also, he sits beside you. Wait.. are you two together?” “Ahem, ahem!!!” I choked. “SO YOU TWO ARE TOGETHER!!!” “What! No, I just happened to be his seatmate.” I told her about the seating arrangement as well as the voting for the officers. She listened intently and said, “I knew I didn't like that girl. If I know, she planned everything about the election. Also, I can tell that her main goal is for you to embarrass yourself in front of Myungsoo shi and everyone.” “You really think so?” she nodded. “Eotteokhae?” I said, nervously. “Don't worry. You were alone before but you've got me now.” “You really are sweet, Eunhae.” “I know right?” and she laughed. “Let's finish our lunch and get started with your special tour. You just gained a special ticket to 'Raemi Travels!!” I said enthustiastically. “Ya.. hajima. That's not funny.” she said and laughed. I pouted. “You're really cute when you do that.” “Am I?” she nodded. And we ate our lunch.
