I blinked as my eyes adjusted to the dim light. The room was almost bare. There was a plain metal desk with two chairs on either side. I looked up and saw a single flickering lightbulb on the ceiling. Mr.Tall nudged me forwards to one of the seats. I slowly sat down. Then suddenly the chair in front of me swiveled around. In it sat a man with slightly graying hair, a strong square jaw, and startling blue eyes. There were worry lines all over his face that showed strain from extremely difficult decisions. Those eyes locked on mine "Well, well, well." He said and leaned back in his chair "Our little sleeping beauty has awakened has she?" I stuttered and said"W-what do you mean?" He glanced quickly at the two men behind me and gestured towards the door "You can go." Mr.Tall and his buddy silently left the room. "Now," he said"Let's get back to business" he stood up and walked two an area of the wall"I'm sure your very confused on why your here, But let me start from the beginning" he gestured again towards the wall and a blue screen lit up, showing a 3D model of earth"15 years ago this company was founded, on the brink of war. Phoenix it was called. Meant to rise from the ashes of earth and restore life to humanity. Ha! Well, that year the earth was ripped apart with war. The countries of old fought with things called H-Bombs. These were created by fusing hydrogen isotopes together, to create the worlds most deadliest weapon. One explosion was so powerful it could rock the very foundation of earth, destroying millions in its wake. Just...like...that. He snapped his fingers. He wiped at the screen so the world vanished. He turned back towards me. "What these countries didn't know was the after effect. Soon after these countries laid waste to each other, any of the remaining survivors caught a fatal disease. Scientists realized that the waves of radiation created something 10 times more powerful that any other cancer. Commoners called it the 'Apocalypse' for lack of a better word. And cursed their leaders for bringing this upon them, until their dying day. What was once 7 billion people, soon was gone. Or so most thought." He cleared his throat, and went to sit back down. " You see, a select few had similar traits, variations really, that allowed them to survive. So as the worlds once most powerful leaders lay dying, they ordered all of the remaining survivors to be rushed to a hidden place. They had their memories wiped and were placed into comas, until scientists figured out a way to save their world. It seems as though they had a bit of selflessness in them after all. And, that is why you're here. You were-are one of these survivors or escapees, as we call them" I blinked. That was a lot to take in. " Well, then why am I here?" I said.
"You, Ms.Adele, our here to start our program to reintroduce humans to planet earth, or what is now, frankly, a barren plain." He replied.
" And how, exactly, are you going to manage that?" I eyed him suspiciously.
" Oh, that's simple. But for me to know, and you to find out." He smirked and turned away. He walked to the door and opened it. "Do you want to get started?" I stood, crossed my arms, glaring at him defiantly. This was ridiculous. He couldn't just expect me to go along with this crazy, no, Insane plan! I decided to go along with it, because it looked like I wasn't going to pry anything else out of him. His face assured me there. "Fine." I said and followed him out the door. He may if thought he was in control of me, but boy was he wrong there.
