An Escape

My sister refused to read my poetry - or any poetry at all.

I demanded a reason why

She said we are all trying to escape somehow

I cannot choose what happens to me, but I can choose what I consume

She asked me how I can be so immersed in a world of darkness

I said it makes me feel a little less alone

It opens up unexplored areas of all of us

Poetry is in all of us, but it is rare that we get to experience it

I will embrace these things till I die

And learn

Just to hope that with my words

 I can make horror

A little more beautiful

We are all trying to escape somehow

Or embrace somehow

We are never senseless for whichever way we choose to be free
