The Gift

Dating?

My alarm went off at 6:00am, but I shut it off because there is no way I'm leaving my warm bed.

The next time I wake up is at 8:00am!

School has already started! I'm 20 minutes late. I curse and jump up from my bed.

I rush down the stairs and get my clothes from the dryer. I quickly decide on blue jeans and a short sleeved white t-shirt.

I eat a banana while I pack my bag. Why didn't Jay and Lisa wake me up?!

I then realize that they're having two nights off for themselves and went to New York. They left yesterday while I was at school.

I throw my light brown hair in a ponytail and quickly brush my teeth. I get my shoes and grab my bag. I run to my car and 'Speed' to school. Of course it being my day, there is a freaking traffic jam! Luckily, I know a shortcut.

When I finally get to school and get out of my car, the bell for second period rings.

I fast walk to my locker and see Xavier looking at me. "You look terrible." He says when I get to him.

"I turned my alarm of which was one of the worst decisions I've ever done. I only just woke up about ten minutes ago and there was a freaking traffic jam! And I look fantastic thank you." I say getting my geography book from my locker.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude." He says.

"No, it's alright. I'm just tired." I say.

Xavier and I walk together to geography.

We sit next to each other and in Science and History.

He's a really funny guy. He always makes fun of the teachers and wonders how they got here to teach this subject.

"Xavier?" I ask him while in History class.

"Yeah?" He replies taking a pencil out of his mouth and looks at me.

"Would you like to sit with me and my best friend Eve and lunch time?" I ask him.

"Sure." He says smiling.

Once History class is done, Xavier and I walk together to the cafeteria.

When I see Eve she looks at me confused but hides it by smiling. "Hey Eve. Can Xavier sit with us today?" I ask her.

"Yeah. Of course." She says sitting down at our table outside.

"Can you go get us all some food?" I ask Xavier.

He nods and lines up in the line.

"Since when were you best friends with the new guy? And why weren't you here this morning?" She asks me.

"I woke up late so that's why I was late. And I'm not exactly best friends with him, I just asked him if he wanted to sit with us today." I say.

"Um. Why?" She asks wanting me to go on.

"I don't know! I haven't seen him with anyone other than me so I thought it would be nice if he sat with us so he didn't look like a loner." I say.

"I don't believe you." She says.

"Fine! I think I like him. But I just want you to see if you think he's a good guy and I'm not wasting my time." I say giving in to her stare.

"I KNEW IT! YOU LIKE HIM!" She shouts pointing a finger at me and smiling.

"SHHH! Eve! People can hear!" Mostly Xavier. Ugh! I hope he didn't hear her.

"Sorry." She says not really being sorry. She tries to hide her smile when Xavier walks over with the lunch trays. "Here you guys are."
