[Kelsey's pov]

*beep beep*

I reached over to my side table and turn my alarm off.

Today is the day. Today is the day that my life finally really begins. I can't help but smile in excitement.

I rush downstairs to find my dad eating breakfast, and reading the newspaper. Just like every day.

"Good morning Kels" My father says, and kisses my cheek.

I may be 19 years old, but I'm still Daddy's little princess.

I know my father has been dreading this day since the day I got my acceptance letter in the mall. I can't blame him though. What father would want their daughter to go to college in a completely different country, thousands of miles away from home? Certainly not mine.

Because my Mom abandoned us when I was 14, I was his rock, and he was mine. As much as I'm thrilled to be starting my new life, I'm also upset to leave this one. It's gonna be weird without my dad. It's like he's always been there for me, no matter what, and I can't picture life without him... but I guess i have to. My plane is leaving in just a couple hours, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to do this.

For the millionth time it feels like, I find myself pacing back and fourth contemplating if its worth going to Oxford. I mean there's colleges closer to home that are just a good, and there's certainly ones here in America that are just as good. I can go to Syracuse which is only a few hours away, or even NYU just 10 minutes away. I mean what's so great about Oxford?

Only everything. My conscience reminds me. I've only dreamed about going to Oxford since I was 9. This is only everything I ever wanted.

Once again I realize I want to go and that I need to go. There's so many memories here, in New York, at this house... I just need a clean, fresh start. Away from the drama, away from the sadness. It's not even like I'm going to a different country alone! My best friend, Savannah is going to Oxford as well, and I honestly couldn't ask for anything better.

I put the few belongings that are left in my room and pack it into a small carry on suitcase. I haul it down the steps and yell for my dad.

The drive to the airport felt like forever. Savannah is in California on vacation, and won't be arriving at Oxford until next week. Classes don't start for another 2 weeks anyway, I just want to get settled in early.

I try to make my goodbye with my dad quick, so neither of us will cry. But no matter how quick I make it we both still manage to shed tears.

"I love you sweetie. Please be safe. Take care of yourself, get good grades, and try to call me or text me as much as you can." He said, while wiping his salty tears off his cheeks.

"I will dad. I love you too, and I know, I'll be safe, you don't have to worry about me." I replied, somehow managing to keep my tears in, for him.

We say our final goodbyes and i begin to walk to my gate.

The 6 hour plane ride goes by fairly quick, probably because I was sleeping for most of it.

As soon as I arrive at the campus I'm in complete awe. All the buildings look like castles and I can't help but think how beautiful Oxford, and England is.

I walk around campus with my suitcase for about 20 minutes until I finally arrive at my apartment. I decided to share an apartment with Savannah, for a few reasons. It's a lot cheaper, it's bigger, a lot cleaner, there's no public showers, and because I have seen too many movies, and read to many books about crazy roommates, and I'm really not the kind to take risky chances like that.

Since Savannah won't be here for another week i set up our whole apartment, except for her room.

I place old pictures of us up on the wall, ones of my dad and I, even ones of my mom and I. I also can't forgot ones of me with my grandparents, who are basically my second parents, especially my grandma, who took on the roll of my mom during my tough teenage years.

All the setting up took away my energy, and made me hungry, so I decide to go to a restaurant with a salad bar, because as much as I'd love some McDonalds, I've heard about the freshman 15, and I'll do anything to prevent that from happening.

I choose some local salad place just 5 minutes away from my apartment. It seems like its a clean, healthy restaurant so i stop in to eat lunch. I head over to the salad bar, and begin to make my salad, and that was when I saw him.
