Giddy with excitement, I walked on the unsteady gravel towards the stairs leading up to the local park. The cold night breeze blew violently on my face and sent shivers down my spine. I was thankful I wore my favorite black hoodie. I also threw on my favorite beanie over my brown locks but if there was one thing I regret, it was wearing leggings because seriously my buttcheeks are freezing back there.
Marcus called me a few hours ago telling me to wear something casual and meet him on local park at seven in the evening. I asked him what it was for but he said it was a surprise. He could've fetched me at home but he decided to do this. Man.
We are not a couple if that's what you are thinking, but I have a really good feeling that he's up to something tonight so the past three years arent for nothing.
I have a feeling that this night is going to change my life.
Now here I am walking in the dimly lit road. A few lamp posts are around and some are not working. I stared up at the sky, a smile forming on my lips as a few stars started to shimmer. I look like an idiot, I know. I just cant wait until I arrive at our usual bench.
I hummed the tune of 'twinkle twinkle little stars' in my head and instantly clutched my knapsack harder as I heard heavy footsteps behind me. I walked a little faster and mentally cursed as the footsteps were also getting faster and nearer.
Damn, why does this have to happen to me?
I fished my phone out of the front pocket of my hoodie immediately to dial Marcus' number. My heartbeat was getting out of hand. It felt like I was marching and there was a band playing on my chest.
"Pick up." I muttered. "Please Marcus pick up.." He was not answering. I walked faster and faster until I reached the man-made lake at the center of the park. It was unusually quiet and almost no one was around.
I glanced around to see a man behind me. He was smiling and looking right at me. I froze in spot as he walked towards me. Holysh!
I was panicking and I didnt know what to do so I asked, "What do you want from me?" My voice cracked at the last words. I was really terrified.
He didnt blink nor move.
"Stay where you are or I'll call the police!" I yelled. He held out his hand, revealing a rusty knife. At that point I swore I run as hard as I can.
"Come back here!" He shouted. His voice was husky and creepy af. He was getting nearer. He had longer legs and he was faster than me.
I was right, this night might change, or rather, END my entire life.
After a few moments, he caught up with me, pulling and gripping me by the arm. He pointed the knife at my side and told me to give him my damn phone and money which I did while tears were streaming down my face. There was a scream threatening to escape my lips but I knew that if I did, he would kill me.
He slung my knapsack over his shoulder and smiled menacingly at me. "Let me go!" I said and I spat on his ugly face. He didnt and only then that I felt something on my side.
I instantly placed my hand over the part that hurt and held up my hand to see blood all over my palm, up to my fingers. I fell on my knees and tried to calm the heck down and process everything. Im screwed.
"That's what you get for spitting on my face." He said as he grabbed my right leg and dragged me nearer to the side of the lake. "No!" I tried to shout but it came out like a whimper.
I watched the stars twinkle above as I felt this pain on my side and on my head as he dragged me until I felt water on my feet. He then pushed me to the water and I fell deep. My wound stung so bad I couldnt struggle to get on top of the water. If I remembered it right, the lake was fifteen feet deep and I wasnt good at swimming. Freaking screwed.
I tried to scream for help but I was too weak and too much water entered my lungs, I could no longer breathe . That moment I knew everything was over.
Everything went dark.
