Breathe Mia Breathe!!
God!! What have I got myself into?
Think Mia think !
You can do this!
Just breathe!
And like a bulb lit up in my brain an idea flashed in my mind. Turning around with a fake smile on my face, I stared at a very angry looking Aunt Lauren. "Going somewhere Mia?" she asked or rather demanded, folding her arms before her chest.
I smiled sweetly at her, "Actually yes! You see, it's been like forever since I had a good work out. I was thinking of going for a run." I answered thankfully without stuttering. She raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow. "With your camera?" Crap! Why didn't I think about that?
"What if I find an inspiration for my scrapbook?" smooth Mia really smooth. And as expected, she didn't buy that. "Inspiration, in the middle of the night?" she asked pinning me with her tantalizing gaze. "Oh yes! This place is so beautiful in the night." I lied making her roll her eyes.
"Look Mia, I don't know how Jennifer has been coping up with you. But I will make it very clear that, all your sneaking business will not be entertained in my house. You are our responsibility now,and we don't want to disappoint your Mom now do we?"
I just nodded and immediately looked away. God! This woman scares the living daylight out of me. I still don't understand how could she be my Mom's sister. I mean, my mom is an angel and this woman in front of me is a female version of Satan.
"Are we clear Mia?" she repeated bringing me out of my thoughts. "Yes Lauren." I answered looking anywhere but her. "It's Aunt Lauren for you honey. I'm an old fashioned woman, and I would really appreciate if you show me some respect." she said with a creepy smile on her face.
"Okay lau-Aunt Lauren." I answered staring at my feet which suddenly seemed to be more interesting than the rest of the world. "Good. Now go back to bed." she ordered turned around and started walking back to her room. "Gladly." I mumbled drilling holes on her back with my eyes.
"I heard that." I heard her shout with a laugh making me roll my eyes. Of course she did. "Good night." I shouted back. "Good night Mia. Don't dare sneak out." she warned giving me a challenging look, and shut the door behind her.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, I walked back to my new room. Which once belonged to my mother. Too bad, I couldn't get my own room. Putting my camera back into its bag,I kicked off my shoes. Once again I couldn't get out of this hell hole which unfortunately is my new home.
All thanks to my lovely mother, who thought it was the right time for me to get to know my family better. In other words, she could move in with her new boyfriend into our apartment. I'm not complaining, but I really didn't like the idea of moving to a new state in middle of an academic year.
Slipping off my jeans I put on my boy shorts, and jumped straight into the comfy bed and smuggled into the feathery comforter. This is the only thing I actually love about this room. And not to mention the walk in closet.
To be very honest, this place isn't as bad as I have been trying to convince myself to believe. The room is three times bigger than my old room. And it also has a balcony with an amazing view of the endless woods which I didn't get a chance to explore.
All thanks to Aunt Lauren.
Taking a deep breath I tried to clear my thoughts. It was useless complaining about my lack of freedom in this house. Now this was my fate and I had no other choice then blending in. You know, I can't just be in all hostile mode every time just because I don't like this place.
