Chapter Three
(Narrative P.O.V)
Emma heads out to Foot Locker, for her afternoon shift. She puts on a pair of Levi jeans, her royal and white retro 12s', and her Foot Locker uniform T-shirt. She walks out of her house.
"Hey, mom. Bye, mom." Emma rushes past her mom to her dads black Mercedes-Benz. Emma turns the key, and pulls off, with Shameless blasting through the speakers.
Her phone vibrates shortly after she pulls off. She stops at a red light, and checks her phone. It was Marcus, but she ignored it. As she pulls off towards an intersection she drops her phone. As she goes to fish for her phone she hears a car, like its going really fast. She looks to her left side, and a car is coming towards her at crazy speeds. She braces herself for the crash, knowing death was a few seconds away from her. She prays, as the car continues to get closer. The car swerves, before hitting Emma. A tear falls down Emma eye, before glass shatters in her face. Her car instantly flips on impact. She was ready to die, but she didn't. She was still upside down, and in her dad's seat. She couldn't feel anything. The pain was so much she was numb.
She tries to unbuckle her seat belt, but it was stuck. She began to cry, as a gas scent filled her nostrils. She was 100% hurt, but she didn't want to blow up. She looked over, and saw her phone. She quickly reached for it, and successful grabbed it. She dialed 911.
"This is 911, what is the nature of you emergency?" The dispatcher voice was static, but Emma could hear her.
"I'm hurt. I'm hurt, really bad. I might not make it, and I'm sure my cars about to explode. My car is flip, I got hit by someone. Please, save me. Please." Emma started to intensely cry, praying that someone will save her.
"We are on our way. Please, stay calm. Your going to be ok." She tries to reassure Emma that she'll be safe, but she isn't listening.
"Promise me I'll be ok. My mom promised me things, as well as my dad, and they lied. So promise me ill be ok." Emma hears siren, and she silently thanks God.
"I promise you'll be ok." The lady promises, and Emma believes her.
Emma's car flips over, and her body shakes violently. Police officers, firefighters, and medics rush to her car. The firefighters had a big tool to cut her door off. They trace the outline of the car door with the tool, and it comes off.
"Help me. Please, help me." Emma shouted, and cried. She wasn't ready to die. She didn't want to never see her family again. She didn't want to give up Marcus. She wanted to live more.
One firefighter has a really big pair of scissors. "I'm going to cut of your seat belt, so we can get you to the hospital."
The firefighter put the scissors closer, and Emmas' breathe became sharp and rigid. "Stay calm, and do not move. These are very sharp, and in one swift move they can severely hurt you."
Emma slightly nods, as he cuts the seat belt off. The medics come over to the drivers seat with a stretcher. One paramedic examined her position, trying to figure out how to get her out of the car, without hurting her.
"Can you move you legs, Emma." An officer kneels to her eye level.
She attempts to lift her leg, and a sharp pain runs throughout her core. "I can't. I can't." She cries, as her body aches.
The officer whispers to the paramedics, and a medic comes to her side. "This will hurt for a little while."
She nods, causing more tears to fall. "Okay, okay. Just hurry. Please."
He places his hands under her thigh, wrapping his arms around them. He pulls her legs from under Emmas' dad's steering wheel. She yells, and cries for help, because the pain is to much to deal with. Her legs hang out of the black Mercedes-Benz. The paramedics pick her up, and put her on the stretcher.
"No, no, no. It hurts to much." Emma yells, as they wheel her into an ambulance.
The nurse in the ambulance looks at her legs. She nods, and grabs tools. "Are you able to turn on your belly?"
Emma tries, and her head instantly shakes 'no'. Her eyes fill with sorrow, and sympathy. She knew why Emma was hurt, but she didn't want to tell her.
"Your in gymnastics I've heard." She starts to bandage her cuts, and gashes.
Emma smiles, slightly. "Yes, how'd you know."
"We talked to your parents." Emma's smile fades, when the nurse says that.
"Were they upset?" She asks, not caring about herself at that moment.
"Yes." The nurse answers. "But, not about the accident. They are upset that you won't be able to do gymnastics for a very long time."
She feels like she just been shot. She cries, and shakes her head, not wanting to believe. "No way. Gymnastics is my way to success. You can't take this! No, hell no! Not now! Why!?" She yells, trying to sit up, but she fails.
"Its your back. You wont be able to walk for a few weeks. And, even then you'll has excruciating back pain. You won't be able to bear the pain." They arrive at the hospital, and they roll her to the ER. They give her pain killers, after her spine surgery. She couldn't have visitors that day, which was unfortunate for Emma, because she wanted to reassure everyone that she'd be fine. She knew they were worried sick, and that was enough to make Emma feel the same way.
She closed her eyes , but she couldn't sleep. She knew no one knew if she was okay. She didn't think she was okay. She wanted to just die, if she would have to teach herself how to walk, and all of that. She didn't want people to pity her, or feel bad. She wish she would have answered the phone when Marcus called. She wished she would have just been more open to Marcus, and none of this would be happening.
She closed her eyes again, trying to forget everything for the time being and it worked. She fell asleep, dreaming of what it could have been.
