It's Friday. I know, I forgot, I'm sorry.

ENJOY!

TWO

I waited, and waited. I rung the bell again. The hallway light behind the door flicked on and through the frosted glass a blurry figure came to the door. It clicked unlocked and swung open to a confused Drew. He was dripping wet, his hair heavy around his face, in only a towel wrapped loosely around his waist that he held up with one hand.

"What's up?" he asked, brushing his wet hair off his face with one hand.

"Sorry, um, I must have left my keys at work. Mum'snot coming home tonight so I need the spare key your family has," I said awkwardly, shifting from one foot to the other. "Please," I added, remembering my manners.

"Oh, right, come in," Drew said, standing aside for me. I stepped inside, conscious of how naked and close he was as I walked past him into his house. It was warm, and smelled familiar. This house had been like a second home to me once. Drew closed the door and followed me into the sitting room.

"I think mum keeps it in her desk," he said, walking past me towards the back room his parents shared as a home office. I followed him through the kitchen into the office and waited at the door as he crossed the room to his mother's desk and rummaged through the draws. After a moment he closed the draws and sighed.

"I can't find it, hang on," he said and came back past me and out of the room. He walked down the hall to his room and disappeared inside. A moment later he came back out holding his phone. He pressed the screen and then held his phone to his ear.

"Hey, mum, where's Aaron's spare house key? I thought it was in your desk draws?" he asked the phone. He paused. "Yeah,I looked in all of them, I couldn't find it. Hang on," he said and came back up to me and into the office. He rummaged through the draws again.

"Yes I'm looking again, I can't find it," he told the phone. He dropped the phone from his ear and looked over his shoulder to me. "Can you have a look? Mum doesn't think I'm looking hard enough," he said to me. I came over and he stepped back, letting me look. I felt a little intrusive, but I didn't want to stick around awkwardly much longer. I searched through each draw like Drew had done, but no key emerged. I shook my head to Drew, who sighed.

"Aaron can't find it either. You must have moved it, mum," he said into his phone. Then he sighed again. "Okay, bye."He hung up.

"She just remembered that your mum locked herself out a few weeks ago and borrowed the key and didn't give it back," he told me. I swallowed.

"Right, okay, thanks anyway," I said and quickly headed for the front door.

"What are you gonna do?" Drew asked me, following me to the front door.

"I'll probably walk back into town and see if I dropped them somewhere along the way, then check the shop to see if they're there," I said. I opened the front door and stepped outside. In the short time I'd been inside Drew's house it'd already dropped a few degrees outside. I shivered.

"Just crash here," Drew said from the door. I turned back to look at him.

"Nah it's fine. I might borrow a jumper though if that's okay," I smiled. It was freezing, and it was going to be along night, but I'd had worse. If I grabbed my bike and rode it wouldn't take as long. Drew shook his head, droplets of water flicking at me.

"No, it's too cold. Just come in. My parents should be back in a few hours, when they get back I'll borrow one of their cars and take you back to the shop to look," he said, once again stepping aside for me to come inside his house. I shivered again –goose bumps creeping over my exposed arms - and that made up my mind for me.
