I See Nothing

I see nothing

Nothing but the backs of my eyelids

I keep them closed

Closed so that a raindrop does not penetrate the film over my eyes

I smell the rain

The rain fresh on the pavement

I breathe in and out

In and out taking in its calming odor

I can taste the salt

The salt in the droplets falling from my sky

My mouth is open with my tongue out

My tongue out waiting for the drops to wash over my taste buds

I can feel my feet jumping

Jumping up and down in the hole where a puddle has formed

My bright yellow rain boots are filling with water

Filling with the water that has come up from the splashes I have created

I hear the raindrops pelting the cars

The cars that surround me parked on the sides of the street

I listen to the water pouring out of the waterspouts

The waterspouts that dump out into large murky puddles

I see nothing

Nothing but the backs of my eyelids

I keep them closed

Closed so that a raindrop does not penetrate the film over my eyes
