Craig's/Mini's POV
"Dude! Did you see that old guy that was just staring at us as if we were legit insane!" I exclaim as we walk on the sidewalks of Los Santos without a clue as to where we're going. Were just walking for the sake of walking. "Yeah! He looked fucking pissed!" Tyler adds to my statement with a cackle. Before we could joke around any more the sound of a cell phone ringing caught us both off guard.
Tyler reached his hand into his hoodie pocket and grabs his cell phone, answering the call. "Yeah?" He says into the phone. "Oh, yeah I got him." "Of course he's safe, why wouldn't he be?" "Oh, you heard about that..." "I can't help I didn't get there in time!" "Look, he's safe and sound. That's all we need to worry about right now" "I know, I know. Don't remind me." "Huh? You're breaking up." "I've got to go, I'll call you later." "Yeah, yeah. Bye." Tyler states into the phone before hanging up, turning his phone off, and slipping it back in his pocket.
"How come your phone was breaking up? You should have full bars unless you have Sprint." I question his with an eyebrow raised. "Yeah, that was my boss. He just wanted to know if you're okay. The call wasn't actually breaking up. I just got tired of him nagging at me like my mom." Tyler says with a mischievous grin plastered on his face. I return his goofy expression with a giggle.
"Well, he is your boss so I guess he is your mom in a way." I tease. Tyler rubs his non-existent mustache in thought. "Well, if that's where we're going with this conversation he'd be my dad and his boyfriend would be my mom." Tyler states with a small laugh. "Woah, we don't have to get too technical about it." I tease again. "Hey! You started it!" Tyler yells childishly before crossing his arms and pouting.
"Excuses, excuses." I chuckle while trying to mimic his actions, failing. He chuckles. "But they're not excuses! It's the truth!" Tyler shouts in an attempt to defend himself. "Yeah, yeah. Sure. Blame it all on me." I say playfully. He let's out a fake whine followed by a grunt and a humph.
We roam the streets aimlessly for an hour or so, cracking a few jokes here and there until I ask the question that was currently on both of our minds. "So where are we going exactly?" I ask as I look around. "I have no fucking idea... Is there any specific place you want to go?" Tyler replies with wondering eyes.
"I could care less right now... I'm probably not going to live much longer anyways." I say, growing a little sad at the thought. "Don't say that! I am going to protect you and that's final! I haven't failed at a single one of my jobs and I'm not planning on failing now! Especially now." He whispers the last part so I couldn't hear him, but I manage to hear him anyways.
"What if they threaten you with your life? It's The Crew we're dealing with, remember. It doesn't matter. I'm going to die and you get to decide whether you go down with me or not, and I doubt you'll risk your life on a hopeless cause." I spat.
Tyler immediately stops and grabs my hand, pulling me over to him so that I was practically lying on his chest. "If it's a hopeless cause then so be it. I will stay by your side whether you like it or not. If I was meant to die while trying to protect you than that's how it's going to be. If it comes down to it I will not hesitate to give my life for yours." Tyler growls as he squeezes my hand harder.
"Why?" I ask. His expression changes from sincere to surprised. "Uh..." He hesitates. "It's my job! That's why." He quickly says after releasing me and stepping back a little. My heart drops like a heavy rock in a lake. A wave of sadness washes over me. Why am I upset? I should be relieved that he's willing to sacrifice his own life for my own. I should be happy that he'll put his life on the line to keep me safe...
"My legs are getting tired, I'll call an Uber and have him drive us back to our hotel." Tyler says, changing the subject. I nod in agreement and think to myself. Either I'm hallucinating, or I heard some regret in his voice. Does he regret saying he'll lay his life down for me? Of course he does! He's human! No human being would lay down their life for someone else unless they're getting something in return. That's just how the world is. I couldn't have said it any better myself, Mini.
After a while of waiting, an Uber arrived and we hopped into the car. The driver drove us back to the hotel that we're staying at and dropped us off. We make our way back to the room we're sharing in silence, and not a comfortable one. It's wasn't an awkward silence, but it might as well have been. I plop down on the bed and turn the television on, changing it to the news station.
"Hey, I bought some popcorn while you were asleep. You wanna pick out a movie and watch it?" Tyler suggests while waving an unpopped bag of popcorn in the air. "Pft, asleep? I was unconscious." I joke. He playfully rolls his eyes. "That doesn't answer my question, smart ass." He giggles with a cheeky grin. "Sure, what movie do you want to watch?" I respond while pressing the 'guide' button and flipping through the variety of channels listed on the flat screen television. "You have to pick, I'm fixing the popcorn." Tyler says as he places the bag in the microwave, setting the time. "Fine, but don't complain to me whenever I pick a weird ass movie." I warn him. He smiles and takes the popcorn out of the microwave. "I guess I'll just have to deal with it then, won't I?" Tyler says before plopping down right next to me in the bed.
I'm sorry it took so long to update this! I've been really busy lately and I still have other stories to tend to! I also have an extremely cool announcement!
