Lost

Chapter 1---Captured

It had all happened so fast. All I can remember is jumping over The Fence my sister and I had leaped over probably hundreds of times. Stopping and looking back when I realized something wasn't right. Staring directly at a time officer. I remember blinking almost in slow motion as I realized that we had been caught.

My 11 year old sister Eden and I regularly escaped from our hectic city Hythe, to hunt in the lush forests surrounding it. We would often hunt for a few pieces of game, drink from the flowing stream, and pick wild flowers to put on our parent's gravestones. They both had been killed five years ago in a car crash. Ever since then, Eden and I had visited their own private cemetery hidden in the woods each time we escaped over The Fence. That was what we had been doing before we got caught by the time officers.

Hythe was known as being the busiest, strictest city in Pwell. It was the capital of organization, being the city for organizing the country and nicknamed the Time City. Everybody was constantly busy, and there was a long list of rules required to follow. Those who didn't follow them, met their end. The prosecutors who ensured everybody was following the rules, were called time officers.

"Lia." Eden whispers. My full name is Emilia but everyone calls me Lia.

I put my hands up in a surrendering position and step back to shield Eden.

"I promise we're not doing anything bad!" I know that's a lie because technically no person is allowed to leave the city boundaries surrounded by The Fence. But I plead to the now three time officers surrounding us, electric cross bows up in a threatening way.

"Come with me." The middle officer demands.

Obediently we let the time officers bind our hands behind our backs and we stumble back to Hythe. I nervously eye Eden as I hope we won't get punished like most people do.
