I'm surprised at his sudden response but argue nothing against it. The faster we get home the better. Ben rushes over to a large chest sitting near the entrance of the cave. Heavily it opens and I get a peek at what Ben's doing. He pulls out a large backpack covered in dust and drops it on the ground. Next he pulls out several jackets and windbreakers, picks three out of the pile, and drops them beside the backpack.

"Why would we need jackets? It's so hot here." Eden asks

"Trust me, it going to get pretty cold in the mountains" Ben replies

"Mountains? What?!" I say shocked. "Don't you think we should try the forest route instead of freezing to death while going through the mountains?

Ben turns to face me. He has a stern look on his face.

"My old city was past these forests, I would've known if there was a city called Hythe even remotely close by."

I role my eyes in frustration and decide to accept it. Meanwhile, Ben has crossed the room and began collecting weapons. He puts two knives in the backpack, loads a sheath of arrows and picks up a large, sturdy bow. He gives the bow and arrows to me and look at them with awe.

"Thank you, but I don't know how to use a bow and arrows."

"You'll learn" he simply says.

Ben turns away and rushes over to his food supply where he shoves all the dry food that he can into his backpack. It's still early in the day so Eden and I pick up our own survival packs and head towards the entrance. All three of us have climbed out and started walking towards the meadow where our plane had landed in. While we're walking through the undergrowth, I flinch at every movement, every noise, terrified that I might come face to face with another black panther. Or something worse. Ben's leading the party, Eden's behind him, and I take the end, all of us using our knives to slash through the long bushes that scratch at our arms. Bugs buzz past my ears and I swat them with my bow in hand. I hear distant howls and hoots probably from some exotic monkey. I'm starting to get incredibly annoyed with the constant noise and surrounding vegetation when I see a gap in the trees in the distance. I squint to get a closer look and almost sigh out loud with relief. We've reached the meadow.
