One of the cop cars stopped in front of us and got out of his car and headed toward us.

"Are one of you the one who called about the amber alert?"

"That would be me" I replied trying to figure out where I've heard his voice from.

"Ah good, I'm John and I'm the one you were speaking on the phone too." Then l remembered his annoying voice on the phone as he accused me of being drunk.

I narrowed my eyes "Oh is that so" I replied not caring that my annoyances was completely showing.

I saw Trent giving me a concern look and the kid staring at me looking a little uneasy himself. I smiled and turned their way "Trent will you take Dylan to the ambulance so they can check him to see if he has any injuries that we didn't see?"

"What about you?" Trent asked looking between me and John.

"I'm going to speak too this officer, I'll come over afterwards" I answered.

Trent seemed to hesitated but then nodded his head and went over to the ambulance. I sighed and looked back at John "so what do you need?  If you can't tell I've had a long day and would like to go home."

"We just wanted you to tell us what happened tonight" He replied.

I looked over in the kid's direction and saw people looking over him and then back at the cop. Knowing he wouldn't leave me alone until I did I told him about everything.

When I was done I went over to the ambulance Dylan who now had a blanket rapped around him and Trent where at. Once I got there and they saw me I thought I saw relief in their eyes. However, I ignored it and smiled "feeling better?"

Dylan nodded his head and I smiled then for the first time a look around the whole area. This place hasn't really changed much since I've last been there. My gaze fell on a little area little ways away, where there were picnic tables and I felt myself tense and my smile go away.

No I need to get out of here, this place isn't safe, I need to run away before she... I felt something wrap around making me jump and I whirled around and smack someone hard on the face.

"Get away from me!"

"Ow! Jesus I was just trying to wrap this around you so you would warm up!" I heard Trent yell and it was only then when I snapped out of my daze.

"Oh my god I'm sorry, I was..." I started trying to think of an excuse but couldn't.

Trent rub his check where there was a red mark now "really why did you do that you, you were shivering so I thought I'd give you a towel to help out."

"Sorry I didn't mean to hit you, you just scared me" I replied lowering my gaze from him. I can't believe I just did that, they both probably think I'm crazy now.

I heard Trent sigh "it's no big deal, besides I shouldn't have touched you without warning so its half my fault to."

I smiled and nodded my head then looked over at the kid who was still looked uncertain. But before I really had the chance to ask what was wrong a cop showed up and started to speak to us.

"Well if everyone is well now I'd like to the kid back to the police station with me."

I looked at him confused "shouldn't you take him too his parents?"

"We don't know who his parents are yet so we have to take him to the police station first" the officer answered and I nodded my head.

"Okay...well kid I guess this is good bye. Stay safe and be more careful, we wouldn't want the same thing to happened again would we?"

The kid shook his head and to my surprise gave me a hug. I gave him a hug back but it was more of an awkward one. The cop let out a huff and I shot a glare his direction to warn him he better not saying anything.

He must have gotten the message because he waited, not saying a word. The kid finally let go and I gave him smile "see you around." Dylan nodded his head and then followed the cop into the nearest cop car.

Once he was in the car I turn around and sigh "man what a night."

Trent smiled "well it's morning now so you have the rest of the day to rest."

I let another sigh "I wish but I have to be at work in five hours and by the time a get home It will be four."

Trent looked at me with disbelief but before he replies John came towards us once again. "Miss Emma I'd like to thank you for calling us and to have a safe trip back home" He said while giving me a piece of paper.

"What's this" I asked turning it around and my mouth when in a big O shape when I read it. It was a $175 ticket for using my phone while driving. I looked at the cop who had started to walk away and yell "Hey what the heck is this!?"

"A ticket for using your phone while driving ma'am" he replied not showing any signs of stopping or turning my direction.

"I can see that, why am I getting one?"

"Because you had to look at your phone when you saw the amber alert. It was obvious in your description of what happened that you were driving when you saw it" John replied.

"First off I wasn't driving I was at a red light which by the way is broken and second off, if I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have followed the mustang and the kid would have been dead because you guys are pretty useless!"

The cop finally stopped and looked my way once he got to the car and sent me a glare but I didn't let it faze me.

"Just be lucky I'm not giving you a speeding ticket also, and if I was you I'd learn some manners." He then goes into his car and drove off almost in the next second.

"Speeding! I had too or did you forget I was trying to save a kid's life because you weren't any were to be seen!"

I looked at the ticket again and sighed "great this is just what I needed, another expense."

"Hey I'd just be thankful he didn't arrest you for driving off the edge, I mean who gave you your license?" I heard Trent said and I looked at him shocked.

"I wasn't the one who drove the car off the edge!" I yelled. I then pointed at my small black car that was little ways away "that's my car."

Trent looked at my car smiled and then rubbed the back of his neck "Sorry when you told me the short version it sounded like you were the one who was driving."

"It's fine, I should have been more specific when I told you what happened" I replied with a sigh.

I looked up at the sky and smiled at the sight of all the stars. I forgot how good of a place this was to star gaze. I saw in the corner of my eye Trent look up too.

"It's a pretty sight isn't it?" I said not looking down.

"Yeah it's very nice, I haven't seen the stars like this in a long time" Trent replied and I nodded my head.

"Yeah me either, brings back memories" I replied and we both stood there for a few minutes star gazing.

But life hit me in face once more and I sighed and looked back down at Trent "well I better get going if I plan on sleeping any time before I have to go to work."

"Okay safe travels, try not to run your car off a cliff again" Trent replied with a smile.

I smiled to "okay, and Trent thanks for helping. The kid and me wouldn't have made if it wasn't for you showing up when you did."

"I was glad to help, have a good one Emma" Trent said waving and then walked in the direction of his car and I went to the direction of mine deciding if I was still going to make that hot pocket or not.
