Trick or Treat!

"Ah, Halloween... The one day of the year when strangers can give kids candy and people can roam around in mayo bottle costumes and it's acceptable." I wrote in my journal while watching people in various costumes run down the sidewalk.

I stood up from the bench and started following the crowd down the sidewalk while quietly humming to the music coming from the 'scary' floats people had decorated with orange black and purple colors with spider props and cheesy looking sheet ghost costumes.

"Cause this is thriller.... Thril- Agh!" I yelled as something rammed right into my back, I turned around to investigate to see a little boy in a superman costume holding a green pumpkin shaped bucket.

"Sorry!" He said as he ran by me followed by a few other kids.

"I-it's fine..." I quietly said even though he was already a few feet in front of me.

"Pros and cons of being homeschooled, no bullying and just over all drama, but your as anti-social and socially awkward as a potato, at least I am...." I wrote in my journal while unknowingly straying from the crowd and nearing closer to a dark alley.

"Nearing? Yeah that'd work there..." I said to myself.

"Hey there." I looked up to see a slight outline of a man standing in the alley about 4 feet away from me.

"Oh sorry." I said thinking I was in his way.

"Leaving so soon?" He said with a deep gruff voice.

"Excuse me?" I say pretending to have not understood him.

"That party's just getting started." By now I could see the devil-ish grin forming on his face.

"Look, i-I don't want any tr-trouble." I say panicking.

"No trouble here, You just follow along and everything will be just fine." He said taking a step forward.

In all the chaos I didn't even notice another figure coming up behind him.

"Excuse me? Do you know where the closest hospital is? I am looking for someone." Said a feminine voice.

The man looked behind him then his smile grew even wider.

"Hey why don't you join our... 'Party'" said the man.

"Oh a party? I've never been to one! I have read about them and they sound very um, Fun!" She said cheerful.

This woman's voice sounds very familiar but I cannot see her face it's too dark! Oh I don't have time for this I need to get away from this man.

"Oh Sarah! There you are Ive been looking for you!"

"Sarah?" She said confused.

"That's your name silly! Now come on i heard there selling hot cider over here" I said as I grabbed the woman's arm and started scurrying away.

"H-Hey wait!" The man yelled as we were 'nearing' haha, sorry. As we were nearing towards the crowd.

"I-I need to find a hospital miss...?"

"Evie." I quietly said while looking behind us.

"Ah Evie! Nice to meet yo-"

"Do I know you? Have we met before?" I said while slowing done when I saw the hot cider booth.

"No... We have not..."

"Oh, Well let me buy you some cider for saving me from that man." I said with a smile,

"Save you? He seemed very nice!"

"Nice? Far from it, Now because of your accent I assume your not from here so I won't judge you but a bit of advice, Don't trust strange men you meet in alleys alright?"

"Oh, if it is not safe I will not trust them!" She said with her head held high.

"I'll take two of those." I said to the cashier at the cider stand while taking 4 dollars out of my pocket them handing it to the cashier and taking the ciders.

"Here, Be careful it's hot."

"Oh thank you." She said taking a sip. "Oh it is very yummy!"

"What did you say your name was?"

"It is Curie." She said smiling.

"Oh that's a coo- Wait what?"

"Curie."

"It's not the worst thing that's happened is it?" "And look around everything is restored, it's beautiful."

"Oh come on Nicky how can you be worrying? This is amazing!"

I grabbed Curies arm and walked over to them.

"Excuse me I think I've seen you somewhere what's your name?" I say trying to sound nice and not extremely excited.

"What is 'your' name?" He said.

"I'm Evie Collins and you are....?" I say trying not to be pushy.
