On my mother's wedding day, the Hello Kitty alarm clock I'd stuffed beneath my pillow didn't wake me up, but my sister's groaning did.
'Q!' Julia complained,'Shut that darn thing off!'
My eyes opened suddenly,as I heard the annoying beep of the alarm clock. I frowned: Wasn't today a Saturday?
Groaning myself, I felt around for the clock and threw it as far as I could without getting up.
It shut up all right, but not without making a hell of a crash.'Queen!' Julia yelled and I felt the bed shake as she jumped up.
'Lemme sleep' I told her,'And I won't bother you'
Julia snorted and snatched the bed sheets from my fingers,'Get up NOW'
I moaned and turned the other way, curling into a fetal position.
I wasn't afraid of Julia.
All I wanted was sleep. And when I wanted something I made sure I got it.
'Fine' I heard Julia mutter angrily,'DON'T get up'
I sighed in relief and tried to go back to sleep when a bucketful of cold water fell on my face and I screamed and leapt up.
Julia glared down at me, a satisfactory grin on her face.
'What did you do THAT for!?' I shouted.
I shivered in my wet night shirt and sneezed,'God! See?! You gave me the flue'
Julia rolled her eyes,'Sure sure. You weren't getting up'
Rubbing my eyes I stared at her hair,'Today's Saturday'
She pouted and narrowed her eye brows. She looked like Bellatrix Lestrange when she did that; with her curly black hair and flashy eyes.
Suddenly the door opened, and my brother Kyle leapt into my bed hugging me,'G'morning!'
My brother was the sole comfort of my life. His cute grin made me smile,'Hey lil buddy!'
'Paul is gonna be my daddy today' Kyle said and started jumping in my bed, as my eyes widened in recollection.
'Mom's wedding!'I exclaimed,'Man, I forgot!'
Julia headed into the bathroom but not before rolling her eyes at me,'I forget you get temporary amnesia in the morning'
It was true. I was a completely different person in the morning.
Grinning I detached myself from Kyke and run down the stairs barefoot.
Today was the day.
I felt so happy for my mother. After all those years of abuse from my father, she'd finally found a man worthy of her affection.
Hurrying into the kitchen, I hugged her,'Hey Mom!'
She turned to kiss me,'Hi honey! Had a good night?'
I nodded,'Why're you up so early? You're the bride today! You need your beauty sleep!'
But I already knew why she'd taken the pain to get up. Her marriage wasn't only guaranteeing her a good husband, but also giving us a good father.
And she wanted to surprise us with a huge breakfast.
Sure enough, a huge pile of pancakes sat on a china plate, while 4 glasses of chocolate milk shake accompanied it.'Mom, there was no need of this!' I protested, kissing her again. My heart broke at her immense kindness and love.
'Of course there was' Julia smirked,'Morning Mom!'
