Prolouge: Durin, Ireland

The king and I go way back. We were like brothers, him and I. Everything was perfect, but not too perfect. But, the bond between him and I did not last forever. He started acting strange. Not the kind of strange on where you turn from good to evil- but the kind of strange on where you have a craving to control everything. I knew since the time he told his father, the previous king, that he wanted to control everything. His father's eyes were filled with confusion and fustration.

"Why do you want to control everything, laddie?" His father asked. He bent down and put his hand on the young prince's shoulder.

" 'Cause I want to!" The prince pushed his father aside and marched towards his room. I hid in the shadows and ran up to him but he said "Don't even think about," he mumbled, angrily.

"Why are you acting like this, brother? This isn't way a king acts. I thought a king only rules his country that he came from." I was worried. He never acted like this before. He was honest and caring and kind. Now, he's being the opposite.

"Well you thought wrong and you are not my brother." He exclaimed. Now, that was harsh and he continued marching angrily to his room. I wanted to tell the king, but i couldn't. He'll never listen to a poor boy who works as a royal sidekick. But, I have to try. I walked towards the king sitting in his golden throne. I stopped and bowed my head.

"Your majesty, the prince is acting strange." I could feel the sweet on my forehead dripping to the floor like raindrops.

"Yes, he is. Did he listen to you when you talked to him?"

"No, your majesty."

"Please," he chuckled. "How many times do i have to tell you to call me uncle?" Well, he was right. My mother is his youngest sister.

"At least once more, your majesty."

"Nephew, will you be a good lad and watch him when i'm gone?"

"I will," i paused. "Uncle."
