Once Arienna finished getting ready, she and Daisy left her apartment so that they could help Richard settle into his new home. As Daisy parked on the curb of a street, Arienna guessed that the blue house with the moving truck sitting in the driveway belonged to Richard. She watched as he exited his home and smiled because seeing him reminded her of the laughter that the three of them used to share when they were younger.
*There were always a lot of things to do when someone found themselves moving into a new home, but definitely not as much of a job as Richard found himself in need of carrying out. Richard now understood exactly why it was that Daisy complained to him about the amount of things he had. As she and Daisy approached the house, Richard almost dropped the box he was holding in his hands. Yet, it was not the appearance of his baby sister that gave him such a reaction. She was here.
Her beauty captivated him even as young boy. He remembered doing just about anything to capture her attention, especially when it meant seeing and hearing her smiles and laughter. He’d been in love with her from the moment he found out what it meant to love someone. And as he watched Arienna approach with a gleaming smile on her face, he knew that he could never love any one like he loved her.
*Arienna wore a smile on her face as she and Daisy approached Richard. She could tell he was surprised to see her, but could see from the smile forming on his face that he was also happy. “Richard. It’s been too long,” she said as she watched him put down the box he was carrying in order to hug her as he simply said her name, “Arienna.”
He held her for a while and seemed to only reluctantly let go when Daisy spoke up saying, “I love how you just ignore me Richard. Can’t I get a hug and hello too?” He then gave her a perfunctory hug and kiss on the cheek.
The three of them spent the rest of the morning helping Richard with moving in. They laughed, joked, and simply caught up on each other’s lives. It was complete fun until their stomachs started growling. Daisy volunteered to pick up some Chinese food, thus leaving Arienna alone with Richard.
“So,” she asked him “Why do you have so much junk again?”
Laughing Richard replied saying, “I guess to hold onto life’s memories.”
“In a way I can understand that, but don’t you ever think that sometimes it’s good to let go of past memories so that you can make room for new ones?”
“New ones?” he asked, “Do you want to make new memories with me Arienna?” and then suddenly he kissed her. Arienna couldn’t help but to think that she probably would have enjoyed the kiss more if not for her lips being stained from the kiss she received the night before. She didn’t want to think about a stranger when Richard was kissing her, but the man’s eyes and his words surfaced at the top of her mind. She knew she shouldn’t, but she started feeling as though by kissing Richard she was doing something wrong. Yet, it couldn’t be wrong. Right?
Arienna did not want these feelings to control her. She wanted to erase this man from her mind so he couldn’t taint her thinking. When Richard’s kiss ended, she looked at him and asked, “Do you want to go on a date with me?”
*Richard couldn’t believe that he was standing outside of Arienna’s door. The most unexpected of things just kept happening. Not only did she allow him to kiss her, she actually asked him out. Pride told him that he should have asked her first, but it didn’t matter because he could always ask next time. “Wow,” Richard said aloud. Just the thought of being able to go out with her again was making him want to scream his excitement to the world. He really loved her and would do anything to make sure that she would have the time of her life.
