Swinging, swinging... Faceplants.

"CADET JAEGER! GET YOUR SORRY BUTT UP RIGHT NOW!" Roared commander Shadis at non-scared-of-titans-cadet. My personal nickname for little Jaeger over there.

Of course, the training task we had to do today was simple; in my eyes anyway.
Speaking of which, it was only a few turns away from mine. Funny, eh? Oh well, Cadenza was standing right next to me; on my left precisely. While on the other side was another girl; shoulder length blond hair cascaded down her neck while her sparkling blue eyes shone; a rare sight in these days, as a small smile was also implanted on her lips; I didn't exactly understand why. Ever since the Titans broke through Wall Maria, nothing has given me the reason to smile. Then again, when has anything?

Two wooden poles stood a fair few feet away from me, cables attached to them; I had seen my fellow cadets connect them to a belt around their waist - yes, I had that on.

The point of this was to learn how to balance, without touching the ground. I understand I'm not exactly describing this well, but the point is:
Connect the cables to your belt; another trainee will turn a lever which will make the cables attached to your belt lift you up, and as your rise, you must keep absolute balance; otherwise you'll face plant into the dusty ground just like little Jaeger over here.

"Who do you think won't fall?" Asked Cadenza; a face of enthusiasm and excitement plastered on her olive features.
I looked to the ground, a board expression planted on my own face, I didn't have to think about it; oblivious as I am, I still always have the most reasonable answer.

"Depends." I replied silkily. Visibly sending shivers down her spine. Nodding in agreement, Cadenza looked forward; a cheeky gin spread across her tanned face while her sky blue eyes drowned with joyfulness while the noon sun reflected on them.

We where in a small corner of the training grounds; the green forest could still be seen but had been distanced greatly; how they even afford this much land is beyond me.

"CADET MOONLIGHT! YOU'RE UP NEXT!" Yelled another Commander; Cadenza started to walk forwards towards one of the three training stations. Yet before she walked a meter; looked over her shoulder at me, sending a wink with a silly smile.

"Don't worry, 'Kira!" She assured positively "this is gonna be easy!" She finished confidently before continuing her walk towards a training station, leaving me alone with little miss blondie.

Speak of the devil; she blondie stuck her hand out to me.

"Hi!" She greeted warmly; I simply gave her a small nod before elbowing her hand away, yet it was if she didn't notice "I'm Krista Lenz! Nice to meet you!"

"Don't talk to me." I said, rejecting her friendly offer.
"You're just like my friend Ymir!" She complained. Ugh, she's getting on my nerves "You would get along with her"
"I'm not here to make friends, Lenz, I'm only here to keep myself alive, and maybe my friends, too."

She looked at me with shock painted thickly across her face; obviously she wasn't expecting my little 'quote'
"Oh, i understand. I'm sorry." She replied, turning on her heel and walking off to Rose knows where. Hn.

"CADET MOONLIGHT WHAT IN MARIA'S GOOD NAME ARE YOU DOING?!??!?!?"
"Umm, backflips, sir?" A cheeky familiar voice said. Oh, Maria. I swear, I'm going to slaughter you, Cadenza.

I calmly walked through the crowd of people; accidentally knocking them over and pushing some out of the way while I got to the first line.
I regretted seeing was I saw.

Cadenza.
Was
Doing
Backflips.

"What the hell are you doing, Cadenza?" I groaned in annoyance, dragging my words to make them seem as if I didn't want to be here. Which was true, of course.
"Backflips. I said before, stupid." Cadenza replied upside down. Her knees bended so she didn't make contact with the hard ground.

"MOONLIGHT, QUIT SHOWING OFF AND BALANCE NORMALLY!" Shadis ordered.

"Umm, sorry? I can't hear you, baldie." She said sassily.
"50 LAPS, YOU WILL BE JOINING SASHA BRAUS! NO DINNER!"

"What, no dinner?!" Cadenza cried, going back into a normal stance. Meh, too bad for her.
"DID I STUTTER MOONLIGHT?!"

"N-no, sir..." She herself stuttered, her head hung low while her brunette hair cover her face. As soon as she was let down; she ran to me. Yes, and hugged me. Hugged me!

"Cadenza. Get off me." I glared dangerously, my golden eyes as cold as the steel their colour came from.
"B-but-"
"Now" I ordered, getting a few stares but not too many. I hated physical contact.
"Sorry..." She apologised, pouting in front of me while the other cadets turned to look at the remaining trainees.

I massaged my nose using my thumb and my index finger; an unsettled frown plastered upon my pale face.
"Just be quiet." I snarled, causing her to pout even more, though, I didn't get another word out of her. For the next ten seconds.

"Yay!" The purple eyed girl cheered happily, punching her fist to the air in success "Kira doesn't hate m-"
"CADET NIGHTFALL, GET YOUR UNGRATEFUL ASS UP HERE THIS INSTANT!" Roared Shadis. Ignoring my old friends stupid rant, I walked silently through the many rows of trainees to the front; quickly saluting to the commander before swiftly walking to the harness and connecting it to the buckles on my belt.

After about half a minute, I nodded at the bald Commander; showing that I was harnessed up.
A face of laziness melted from the old board one as I felt the cables lift; bringing my body up with it.

This is stupid. I thought to myself can't see why anyone would fail.

Two feet off the ground; three feet; four; and five, stop.

I barely had to do anything at all, in fact, I lazily slouched in the harness as time flew by slowly.

Man, how many minutes left? I thought this is so boring.

Half a minute left, an thank Rose, I don't think I can survive up here any longer, it's so boorrrriiinnnggggg.

"Well done, Cadet Nightfall. It appears to have past the test."
