A/N: (Because I know how much you love the author's notes!) I want you to take a moment after you read this and just think. It's right there in the Bible. With faith, we can be made whole. Maybe we're not even physically needy. Maybe it's the spiritual aspect that's broken. The Bible tells us that if we ask Jesus to forgive us, we will instantly be made whole, and that our sin is cast as far away from us as the east is from the west. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, faith in God can do so much.... but do you have that faith?
Mark 5:25-34
Vs. 28. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
A woman stood amongst the multitudes of people milling around her, craning her neck in the hope of catching a glimpse of Jesus. He was just ahead of her, his disciples grouped loosely around him.
"Jesus!" she called desperately. Her voice was lost in the swell of so many people.
"Jesus!" she tried again, a little more weakly. She took a step forward but was knocked to the ground by a man rushing past. He kept on without giving her a second glance, following the direction the crowd was taking.
She stood up slowly and wiped the dust from her hands on her garments.
Those walking by her looked upon her dirty body with pity, or maybe disgust. This woman had suffered from internal bleeding for twelve years! All of her money had gone to physicians, but they were unable to help her. As a matter of fact, she had only grown worse.
The woman felt herself being pushed forward by the excited crowd, and she blocked out their noisy talk of this amazing man and what he could do. Her only focus was making it to the one physician whom she had not yet tried.
"If I may touch but his clothes," she told herself. "I shall be whole."
Jesus.
The name powered her every step, and she came closer to the man, surrounded by his disciples, until she was but a few feet away from him.
She stretched out her fingers and reached for Jesus' robe, the sounds of the buzzing crowd fading away. Everything went silent, and all she could see was the powerful man called Jesus, his eyes beaming with a certain radiance that she had never before seen. Her fingers were so close to his robe, but it appeared to her that the closer they came, the farther away they seemed to be. Finally, after enduring what, to the woman, could have only been long hours of torment, but in reality were mere seconds, she felt in her grasp the rough fabric of Jesus' garments.
Immediately, she knew that she was healed. The blood within her that had caused so much pain was now dried up, and a joyful smile replaced the worn, sad expression that was usually on her face. She sank back into the crowd and laughed for her happiness, but was startled out of her delight when Jesus stopped walking and spoke.
"Who touched me?"
The woman's facial expression was once again replaced, this time with a mixture of shock and fear.
"Jesus," one of the disciples said. "You can see the multitudes around you, and you are asking who touched you?"
The woman trembled but she made a quick decision. She walked forward quickly and fell to the ground in front of Jesus.
"My Lord," she wept. "It is I who have touched you."
Expecting his anger, she was taken by surprise when he helped her up and smiled at her.
"Daughter," he spoke. "Your faith has made you whole. Go in peace, and be healed from your plague."
She stumbled as she made her way back to the middle of the crowd, tears now pouring openly down her cheeks as she remembered his words; words she would never forget.
Her faith had made her whole.
