Riley's POV

Life is life, in all honesty. In my opinion, being popular gets you somewhere. Breaking the little square that you made for yourself gets you somewhere. In my school, being liked really gets you somewhere. You can get people to do anything for you as long as you don't screw up, something I don't intend on doing.

The 11th graders were going on a huge trip to Hawaii, something I'm definitely participating in. I mean, I deserved it....I know I did....

I deserve all of this.

-The Next Morning-

"Honey, the bus will be here soon! Come get breakfast!" My mother yelled to me at 5 in the morning.

I ran downstairs, feeling energized from a good night's sleep. My mom prepared bacon and eggs with some toast for me. She slid the plate over, already dressed in her work clothes. No matter how many times I tell her that her suit jacket is about to rip, she brushes me off, telling me she still has a few more uses before that thing gives. I chuckled quietly and started eating.

"So," my mom started, sliding over her plate as well, "How are you and Diana? This has to be your longest relationship yet."

A light laugh escaped my lips, "It's going okay, I suppose. This might have been my longest but it sure is the most boring. We don't even do anything together anymore, it seems like we're still together for show..."

Even though I wasn't looking up, I could see the look of concern on her face. The way her forehead creased when she was concerned or angry was burned into my mind.

"Darling, if that's how it is, you should just end it. I'd hate to see it all end in a big mess..."

I played with the lone curl on the end of a lock that plagued me and shrugged. Mom sighed and took her food to the living room so she could watch the news. I continued eating my already cold breakfast. Once I was done, I grabbed my suitcases and my mother and I made our way to my school.

Students buzzed around in the parking lot, chatting happily and loudly. The school year was almost over and even though we had one more year of this hell hole, everyone was still excited. It made me laugh. I didn't think of this trip as much. Mom and I unloaded my things on the sidewalk.

"Okay, when you get there, apply a lot of sunscreen. I don't want you coming back with your body having a bunch of burns from the sun." Mom informed, putting her hand on her hip like she always does.

I nodded but in reality, I didn't plan on going outside all that much. Maybe get in a swim or two but that was it....I'm more of an inside person if you can't tell. Mom continued to give me tips on whatever the hell before I heard my name be called by someone.

"Riley! You're late, we almost got on the bus without you!"

I turned around. A green-eyed beauty stood behind me. She was short and had bouncing red curls sitting on her shoulders. Freckles were sprinkled all over her little body. In all honesty, she looked like a loli.

I smiled a bit, "I'm sorry, Katy. I literally just got here."

Katy opened her mouth to muster another word but I was met with a much deeper voice.

"I thought punctuality was your thing, not ours. You said be here at 5:30....it's nearly 6."

I looked up to the dude who was behind Katy. He also had fiery red hair and green eyes but he was much taller than the both of us. Yes, I'm short, I can't help it. It's from my mom. Even my younger sister is taller than me because of my dad's genes.
