I don't know what to believe anymore... Me with Eleanor, again after how many years? What will I tell Kat if my dream comes true? (Kat being my girlfriend, but it doesn't feel that way, I don't know what to call her.) I keep driving and driving. I stop at the gas station, buy a sandwich, fill my gas tank and buy a can of coke. I drive for what seems like hours, but its only been around half of one. I pull onto her street, anxious as hell.I pull up to a house I've pulled up to once before, which was one of the worst days of my life. I am empty, no thoughts. I feel myself gliding towards the door. But do I knock? Or was this a mistake? I can't back out now, I can't disappoint Eleanor. Will she forgive me? I can already hear her sarcastic voice. I ring the door bell. Eleanor answers, as beautiful as ever, like the art nobody understands. For a moment she stares at me, her dark brown eyes contrast with her pale, freckled skin. We hug.
"I don't know what to say."
"Neither do I." I respond, still awakening from the long car drive.
Her eyes appear watery, her smile is faint and mysterious, I feel drawn to her. She takes a rather long breath, clear and loud.
"You're taller." she says, chuckling softly
"You're uh....er...." I don't want to offend her.
"Skinnier? Well not that much, but yeah." she says, not blinking. Her eyes dark, yet bright at the same time.
"Well," Eleanor says, "come in."
"I missed you, I thought you'd never write back." She didn't write back really, I got a postcard with those three words. And of course she called me recently.
"Well, uh.... sorry i just, couldn't bear the...." Eleanor sighs.
"So how have you been?" I say trying not to feel awkward like talking to a distant relative.
"I'm okay, I've been making mix tapes lately." still not sounding like her usual self, more like an average, shy girl that I would associate with Kat. I wonder if it's true, what I dreamed about.
"Let me rephrase this, so how's my Han Solo?" I say more confident, that same, amazing, toothy grin spreads across her face.
Eleanor makes a noise, much like the voice of Chewbacca's. I laugh, she closes the door behind us.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Hey guys, sorry my chapters are so short, but I can only write for short periods of time. I have a severe case of writer's block and find it hard to come up with inspiration. Feel free to give me ideas or suggestions. I'd love to hear your feedback and how you feel about the story. Thanks!
