Lionfish Can't Hug

No one comes around me much
Because lionfish can't hug.
Even my mama keeps her distance
Because lionfish can't hug.
The ocean's kind of lonely for me
Because lionfish can't hug.
Even living near a busy reef,
Lionfish can't hug.

I spread my fins out wide
When fish come by
(I could fit a dozen tangs between them)
But they scatter in all directions;
Only their bubbles hug my scales.
And if one should finally get close enough,
It's not a hug--
It's dinner.
Because lionfish can't hug.
