Chap 4: Written In The Stars

>> Just when I thought life can't get any better I drove off to the other window to pick up my order. I was searchig for a radio channel when a familiar sweet voice passed through my ears.

What's the deal with today and familiarity??

My neck jerked to the source of the voice, I smirked and looked into her ocean blue orbs that had me captive whenever I looked in them. "Morning Rach," she handed me my coffee, "M-morning," she stuttered.

"Looks like you don't only work in the shop," she said examining the suit I'm wearing. "Apparently not," I replied. "About our date, how about Saturday at let's say 7? Does it sound good to you?" I questioned, "Sounds perfect," she smiled a heart mealting smile, I loved it when she smiled. I wanted her to smile all the time. "Alright see you then," and I drove off.

I was running late and I knew it but it wasn't my fault the streets were jammed. Screw this city! I wouldn't let something ruin my mood today though, it's just not fair. I haven't been in a good mood for a while, no specific reasons though.

I got into my office and started my work for the day. I was so caught up in work that I got startled when I heard the phone ring. "Lazaro, Mr. Wilson wants to see you," Summer, my secretary, said through the phone. "Alright Sum, I'll be there." I couldn't help but feel nervous. My boss never asked to see me exept that once when he told me I was lacking behind and he didn't like it.

I got up reluctantly and walked to his office. Great now my palms are sweating. I knocked, "Come in," I opened the door, "You wanted to see me Mr. Wilson." "Ah, Lazaro, please take a seat." I obliged. I was getting more nervous by the second. Here goes, moment of truth. "Lazaro you'v been working hard lately I see, I like that. And since you're a driven and a serious employee, I'm going to offer you this. I'm opening a new branch in Seattle, I'm sure you heard about that."

I nodded, "Good. My offer to you is after you're done with college, you move to Seattle, you'll be a real employee with a high salary, and according to how well you work, you will be getting promotions. Don't worry about finding a place or the plane tickets, the company will pay all expenses. So there's nothing you should worry about. I feel like I'm giving you everything on a silver platter," he chuckled a little.

"I really don't want to lose an employee like you, think about it. You may dismiss now." I swear I couldn't believe my ears! Whoaa! I can't believe this, this is basically the best day of my life! "Thank you, sir. But I don't think my answer will ever be a no. I'm very grateful for this offer. I sure am taking it," I said while getting up, ready to go back to my office to ask God what have I done to have such an incredibly unexpected day. "That's great to hear, I'm glad that's what you think."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SATURDAY<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The day I would take Rachel on a date was finally here. I woke up earlier than usual on a Saturday morning, but it's not like I could sleep anyway. I wasn't going to take her to some fancy restaurant just yet. I had another idea in mind. I tried keepng myself busy until it's time I should get ready. I watched football matches and some baseball matches as well.

When it was was time I got off the couch and took a quick shower. I put on a navy blue V neck and black jeans. I then wore some of my favorite cologne, grabbed my keys and drove straight to her house. She texted me the address earlier and asked me if she should wear casual or formal. Which I thought meant either she's excited for the date or doesn't want to look like a fool. But I was hoping it would be the first option.

When I got to her house I looked over the pace, it was a nice quiet neighborhood, not scary quiet but peaceful quiet. I knocked on her door. In a few seconds the door was opened to reveal a gorgeous Rachel. She wore a grey tank top with a navy blue cardigan. Paired with some navy blue skinnies and white converse.

Our clothes matched, and it wasn't even planned. "Are you going to stare at me all night long?" She asked. "That really wan't the 'hey' I expected," she giggled, "Alright then, "hey!" "  I laughed, "Hi, now let's go beautiful." I watched her blush and couldn't keep my eyes off her.

The date consisted of a picnic in a quiet park. I didn't want kids roaming and playing around while we have our dinner. After we finished eating, I rested my back on a tree trunk and asked her to join me, I put my hand on her shoulder and she layed on mine. It was quiet, I felt she would sleep any second. In all honesty, I was thinking about how right now i would be all alone at home or hanging with the guys watching football. This was much better. It's a change, a good change.

"What are you thinking?" she asked softly. I smiled and thought I should tell her, more of sing it to her.

(Play song now)

I lied down, and she joined me, we looked at the stars while I sang to her.

~"Stay with me,

don't fall asleep too soon

the angels can wait, for a moment.

Come, real close.

Forget the world outside.

Tonight we're alone,

it's finally you and I.."~

It was just a perfect date. I drove her back, and waited until she unlocked the door, she looked up at me, and I started leaning in. I kissed her gently then whispered against her lips, "Goodnight."
