Today is my mom's fight for dominance to stay queen of the dragons. The kingdom is a pretty big place and it needs someone who is organized, strong, and has a good memory. The memory thing is so that the leader can actually remember every dragon down here. You can go your whole life down here and never meet about two thirds of the population. A guy sat next to me and said to his buddies that he hopes the other guy will win. Clearly, he did not know who my mom is or who I am. I turned to him, gave him a nasty glare, and said, "My mother is going to win." He turned to me with a look of shock. I saw slight fear in his body language as he spook. "Y-y-your mom." I nodded my head. He suddenly got some courage and staighted up with a hardened look, "What makes you think she can win?" I gave him a blank stare and leaned back in my chair with my hands behind my head. Before speaking up I gave a smile, "She is going to win." I turned away from him and watched as the fight was about to begin. After the fight mom had some duties to do because she won the battle. The challenger left with three broken ribs, a bleeding neck, a sprained wing, and a very sore tail. I walked home to the section of the cave we lived in. I started to play with my baby sister when I walked in. An unhatched egg sat in the corner of the room and we made sure not to fall on it. It will also be our sibling very, very soon (like today or tomorrow soon). We got into dragon mode and I started tossing her into the air. She would flap her wings to start flying but then lose control and fall. I would then swoop down and catch her in my big claws. Then the process start over again, the whole time filled with laughs and screams. Suddenly their was shouting outside of the room and two people burst into the room looking quite the opposite of friendly. One was a slightly over weight guy that kinda looked like my Uncle Sugar in his human form. Another was I'm guessing a young boy judging from the bust of his armor, but he was covered head to toe so I could not see his face or body. I picked up my baby egg-sibling and handed it to my sister. I then put them both into a big backpack laying on the floor. I put that on my back in such a way so as to keep my wings open and free. During that process I never once blinked or moved my eyes from the humans in front of me as they held their weapons out at me. Lucky thing we were in dragon form when they barged in or they would have know our identities as humans. With both younger siblings on my back I opened my wings up and got into a fighting position. The bigger guy in front of me charged at me, but the boy seemed to hesitate and just stand there before eventually following after the older man to attack us. Before the big fella could take a swipe at me with his sword/staff thing I flew upwards and through a pipe like tube that led to the outside human world. See their is no molten lava at the center of the earth but millions of living, firebreathing dragons. That tunnel we just went through is actually a volcano on an uncharted island. It will erupt now because to get through the tunnel you have to pass a river of magma. With the force of my flying, it will bring about 500 gallons of magma with me and with the force of an adult dragon would bring 10,000 gallons. So here I am, about an hour after our escape, exausted and happy my siblings are alive. My sister started screaming in delight and when I looked up from playing with some twigs I saw why. The egg was hatching and out of it came our baby... brother! He looked very confused as he smelled the two of us. He started to speak in dragonese, "Sssssissssterrrss?" I laughed right then and there and hugged him. Tight enough to slightly squish him but not crush or bruise him. I pulled him out of the hug and looked at him with tear filled eyes, "Yes I am your big sister and this cutie next to me is your other big sister. Go on and give her a big hug." The boy turned to her with big blue eyes then jumped out of my arms and ran to our sister. When he hugged her I saw her stiffen up and look down at him with awe. I could tell that she could not belive that she was finally a big sister. I knew that look because I wore it when she hatched and again just now when he hatched. Then a second boom was heard from the volcano... er tunnel and out popped a dragon. We were to far to see who, so I whistled to say where we were and whom we were. I am the only dragon in the colony that can whistle in dragon form. The dragon started to swoop down and I realized it was..."Mommy!" All of us shouted at once (thats right I say mommy nothing ashamed about it and mom actually loves hearing me say it so HA) she landed with a long face but it soon brightened when she saw us. She placed her claws over her heart when she saw our baby brother. "I had so hoped you escaped the humans." She gave three of us a tight hug before letting go and looking us up and down. My sister being the loud mouth that she is told mom and our baby brother the story of how we escaped and how our brother hatched. Mom turned to me with her loving smile and proud eyes. I shyly ducked down my head and blushed. My brother and sister then started to circle me and started to sing, "BIG SISTER THE HERO. BIG SISTER THE HERO. BIG SISTER THE HERO." my sister in English and my brother in dragonese. My mom then spook in dragonese, "For the next 3 weeks we must speak this way around your brother ok?" My sister and I nodded our heads and said ok in dragonese. "Now that we have that settled, let us find something to eat. I think I saw a big patch of wild blueberries as I flew over here so stay here and I will be right back."

*after dinner*

So my siblings are asleep right now and mom and I are talking about what happened back there and what we should do next."I still can't belive they found us. I thought humans thought we were..." I looked down at my feet and spit out the word, "Myths." My mom gave a sad smile knowing I was uncomfortable about just being some fairy tale."Yes well there are a few humans out there that belive in us. Some in a loving way. Others in a gaining way. Although most in a kind of hunting way as you saw back there. There is nothing we can do now but survive. Do you know what dragan protocol says to do right now?" My mom gave me a small nudge after saying that. I smiled glad she was not as downcast as she was when she landed by us after shooting out of the tunnels. "I believe that the protocol after losing a cave is to live... among... humans..."I turned and looked at her. I saw the tears in her eyes clearly saying she was upset about the arrangement. I took in a breath, looked down, and manged to stutter out a reply. "W-well hey glass half full it is only going to be for t-two decades and then we can go b-back and see who sur-survived. Right?" I looked back up at her with a hopeful smile and nervous eyes. She gave a deep chuckle in her belly and it turned into full out laughter before she calmed down and spoke to me. "Yes. What is 2 decades to a dragon after all? Now go on and head off to bed. Keep your siblings warm. I'm just going to stay up for a bit and hammer out some details." I gave her a tired smile and yawn then walked up to snuggle with the younger kids. As I laid there (and smiled at how cute my sister and brother were while sleeping) I thought about what happened in the past 12 hours. I woke up, ate breakfest, watched mom beat up a dragon, played with my sister, got attacked, escaped with my sister and our egg-sibling, lost my home, got a baby brother, reunited with my mom, ate dinner, had an upsetting talk about the future, and finally laid down to sleep with my siblings. 'Just another day in the life of an 9 year old dragon' I thought sarcastically. My eyelids shut, just wanting some rest and a better future.
I heard my mother sing a soft lullaby called 'A Thousand Years' as I drifted off.
