Yui's POV;

My parents despised me, only because I was able to bend. Not only bend one element but three, they both were non-benders, from a long line of them, and they both, for some stupid reason, despised benders. We live in the South Pole, and I'm trained by the White Lotus, along with my best friend, who's also the avatar, Korra. She has her polar bear dog, Naga. While I have, for some weird reason, a white dragon, named Yuki. She's just a baby though, even though her species is supposed to be extinct I think some are just hiding away from, us, humans. She was injured and I decided to care for her till she got better, but when she did, she didn't want to leave. So she became mine. I'm getting off track, my parents despise me only because I'm a bender, but they love my younger sister, Akai Kaen. But I know something they don't. Akai's a water bender. If, and when, they find out, they'll disown both of us. They swore that to me, they yelled it to me, they beat it to me. They did everything they could to let me know that they'll disown us if she was a bender as well.

I was cut out of my thoughts by my so called 'mother' yelling at me. "Yui! Get your stupid little bender ass over here this instance! You have your training to get to!" Yup! My mother totally doesn't hate me! Note the sarcasm. I'm only nine by the way, and I'm Yui Kaen, basically meaning; Gentle Flame, or it could mean; Lithe Flame, lithe meaning; graceful, thin, or supple.

I've seen Akai bend before, even if it was on accident, there was no doubt she was a water bender.

"Yui! Get your stupid ass over to training!" My oh so wonderful mother screamed throughout the whole house. I'm pretty sure the whole entire South Pole could hear her.

"Yui! I heard that! Now get out of the house and go to your stupid bending training!" Oops.... Well I may get beaten over that tonight....

I gracefully jumped up, off my bed, and ran out of the house, but not before kissing Akai on the head. I ran over to training, where Master Katara, many of the Masters, and Korra were. When I got there I was panting and my long brown hair sprawled all across my back.

"Hey! Yui!" I looked up to see who called my name, and of course it was my one and only best friend. Korra.

"Hey Korra! How are you?" I said as she came up to me.

"I'm fine, but how are you? I could hear your mum all the way from the training area, and that's the other side of the South Pole from where you live!"

"Hehe, yeah I'm fine. Do you know where Yuki is?"

"Yeah! Yuki is at the training grounds playing with Naga! C'mon! Let's race to see who can get there first! I bet I can beat you anyway!" Korra, being the hot headed girl she is, boasted.

"Alright, but the rules are; No interfering with the other persons lane, all else is fine as long as no one gets hurt" I stated, a finger in the air, my safety of others first coming into action.

"Ma'm! Yes ma'm!" She mocked being a solider. I laughed and counted down to three.

"....1" I started. Korra getting reading to fire or water bend.

"....3.... GO!!!!!" I shouted, bending snow to turn to ice to make me go faster I give myself a head start, I have always been the faster athletic one out of the two of us. So I didn't need to bend as much, I was really fit, only because I have to run away from my parents when they want to beat me, or when their drunk.
