Jefferson and Regina had agreed on their terms and were about to walk out of her office. She reached for the door knob and turned it, it stopped.
"What the hell?" Regina murmured and jimmied the knob again. "It won't open," she said turning to the Mad Hatter.
"Stop lying-"
"I'm serious!" She growled and tried again. "Look you try it!"
She moved out of the way and he glared at her. He too couldn't get it open. He punched the door out of frustration.
"Great so I'm stuck in here with you?!"
"Yeah well I'm stuck in here with you," she shouted back.
They both just scowled at each other, crossing their arms in disgust. Of course from time to time they'd check each other out. Especially when he first met her. Her outfit was quite revealing and he couldn't help his eyes. She had trouble admitting to herself on how handsome Jefferson was.
He had a nice structured face, a nice jawline, incredible blue eyes, great hair, and cute lips. She couldn't help but take another look at his face. They both sat down on different ends of the large couch.
"I think we should try and get along," he suggested, running his thumb along his cleft chin.
She sighed and said, "Okay so starting asking something, I don't know."
"When was the last time someone held you? For me, over thirty years. And you? What, not even a year, because Graham, right?" He answered for her.
"Graham never held me. No one's ever held me. Not even...Daniel. We were only able to steal kisses and spend a few minutes with each other," she said sadly as tears welled up in her eyes.
He could see her pain, but he was supposed to hate her, right? He couldn't be sympathetic for her. He could tell she was starting hard not to cry.
He got up from the couch and walked over to her side, towering over her. He put his arms on the couch and got close to her face, leaning down. "You don't get to grieve. You've had almost your whole life to do that! I can't see my daughter because of you. You still have your son whether he loves you or not you still have him-"
"Having someone is loving them and then loving you back. I don't have my son," she said as tears flowed down her face and pushed him out of the way.
She wanted to get out and not let him see her cry. So she turned her back to him and tried to contain herself, but she couldn't, she just fell apart. She was ripped at the seams. And her world had been shattered into pieces numerous times, barely having the motivation to pick up the pieces.
He could hear her soft sobs and he felt bad. She was trying to suppress the cries, but it was impossible. She was just too broken. He took a deep breath and slowly walked over to her, clutching her arm.
"I'm sorry," he said sincerely.
She turned around and you could see her eyes were red and puffy from the crying, some tears were still coming out. He wiped them away carefully and pulled her into a hug. She stopped crying and buried her head in his shoulder.
She freed herself from his grasp and looked up into his eyes. "I tried to kiss David," she admitted.
"You what?! Seriously you try to steal Snow's husband?!"
She said that same broken look on her face. She just wanted to feel something again. She thought maybe even just one kiss might really brighten her up. She couldn't even get serious with a guy until they dump her.
"Getting back at Snow wasn't the real reason you tried to kiss him was it?" Jefferson asked, getting closer to her.
"No," she said in a broken voice. "I was just trying to see if I had still had it you know? If I'm pretty enough. But clearly I'm not," she said as a tear fell. "Do-do you think I'm pretty?" She asked, looking up at his eyes, pleading.
"Yes. One of the most beautiful women I've seen, for sure," he said genuinely with a fraction of a smile.
Her cheeks went red as she averted her eyes from his. "Re-really?"
He nodded and she smiled and laughed slightly. She started fidgeting with Daniel's ring and it fell off. She instantly freaked out.
"No! Where'd it go!" She said as her eyes went wide.
He told her to calm down and he looked across the floor and found it. He got back up and grabbed her hand, sliding the ring back on. They both looked at each other at the same time, locking eyes. He continued to subconsciously hold her hand as he looked over her beautiful face again.
She looked into his blue eyes and then her slight fell down his face into his lips. His eyes too fell onto her lips. They both started to lean in slowly, not wanting to to go in too fast. Then their lips connected.
His hand released hers and held her hip. The both of them would of never expected this. For them to go from yelling to kissing each other. Still their lips moved over one another's and they both felt sparks.
Then he parted from her and tried to act like he didn't like the kiss. Regina looked into his eyes, searching for an answer. Did he like it? She just saw hatred again. It was a mask over his true feelings though.
"You known what maybe there's a key somewhere," he mumbled.
As he moved away from her, she stood there in shock. She brought her fingers up to her lips and lightly touched them. Jefferson's lips were just there and he didn't say a thing. She wanted to relive that kiss, it wasn't like with Graham it was more like Daniel.
"Regina?!" He yelled, pulling her out of her thoughts. "Can you help me find the key please?!"
She walked over realized the keys were in her pocket. "Oh sorry," she said, handing him the keys.
"Are you kidding me?! So we get locked in here, we fight, we argue, you cry, and then we kiss?! What the hell, let's just get this over please," he yelled, trying really hard not to just apologize and kiss her senseless.
"I'm sorry I ruined your day," she mumbled as tears fell down her face, walking behind him out of the office.
Did he feel anything? Did he like it?
I should apologize, but no! I'm supposed to hate her not become her boyfriend.
