The woman screamed as a baby was born.

"It's a girl!" the nurse screamed as the building shuddered. The woman had another baby girl as more debris smashed the windows of the hospital. Fish were swimming frantically, looking for safety, but there was none.

"My queen, we must leave," the nurse said as she picked up the first girl. Another nurse picked up the other girl and they swam quickly put of the building. A nurse dropped one of the babies as the building collapsed. The woman broke down, sobbing for her lost baby.

"Where can we go my queen? The baby wont be safe here." nurse said.

"We will go to the surface." the queen declared. The nurses gasped as the land above was very dangerous for mermaids. They shrugged and followed their queen, not wanting to upset her anymore. The woman swam to the surface, dried off until she could use her magic to transform into a human long enough. She ran towards her husbands house. No one knew that she had fallen in love with a human.

"Patrick are you here?" she called frantically.

"Yes my dear." He hugged her and saw her pointing to the ocean. He nodded and followed her. He gasped when he saw a baby girl with a little mermaid tail.

"You gave birth already? Isn't that a little early?" he asked. The queen ignored and handed him the baby. The queen was so sad to have to give her only child left to her husband, on land, where she will never watch her grow up.

"You're giving her to me? Why Lily?" Patrick asked.

"The kingdom is under attack. I must save them." Lily said. "Take care of her." Lily started chanting something under her breath. It was a spell so the baby girl will not grow a tail until she was old enough to understand.

"Please change my baby's tail to legs and have her never know until she is old enough." Lily chanted this three times while the nurses had left to see if they could help the injured from the attack. The girl's tail shimmered and turned into two baby legs.

"Goodbye, my darling." Lily said. She put a necklace around the baby's neck. "Tell her this is from her drowned mother."

"Ok." Patrick said, tears cascading off his face. "What should we name her?" he asked.

"Bella"
