He came home late again last night. I could smell it all over him. . . perfume, the cheap kind. Maybe it was that one weird girl from his work, Zoey, she is always all over him. I sat at the kitchen table thinking with my coffee in hand. This was the third time this week where I have had that perfume smell hit my nose and the third time this week where I've had to sit and think about it.
"Morning" he came into the kitchen smiling.
"Good morning" I said faking a smile.
"I might have to work late tonight again. I'm so sorry Jane I'm going to have to miss dinner" he said getting a cup a coffee.
"It's fine I'll tell Mark and Ava you had to work"
"Your amazing" he said before kissing me on the forehead.
And he left. I watched the door close behind him. Was there really another girl out there that he loved more than me, his wife.
Dinner
I drove to Mark's to meet for a dinner with some old friends. My brown hair was curled and I had on a red dress with black heels but I had black flip flops in the back seat if I start to hate the heels. I walked in and the first person I saw was Ava, Mark's wife.
"Jane! It's been forever!" Ava said hugging me.
Then she asked the one question that I didn't want to answer.
"Where is Ricky?" Ava asked
"Can we talk alone?" I asked. She answered with a nod.
We walk into a bedroom with white walls, red carpet, a bed with a silver/grey silk sheats with a red design on them and a dresser that was the same silver grey and red design. I sat on the bed and almost sliped off because of the silk.
I told Ava about the purfume and working late.
"I want to say something but if I'm wrong our marriage goes out the window" I said almost in tears.
"Your right and plus you don't know he's cheating it might be that one weird girl that is all over him at work" Ava said.
I could tell by her voice that she was as unsure as me.
"Let me fix your make up and then we will go back to the dinner"
I felt my face and it was wet, I had been crying.
Ava did my make up and a slaped a fake smile on my face and went to talk to people. Tonight I was going to enjoy myself if it killed me. Ricky and I had got married about five months ago and I think I would know if he was cheating. I saw a lot of people I knew which I was happy about because I hate going to dinners or partys and only know maybe two people.
"Jane!" A voice said.
I turned to see Amy the girl who stole my boyfriend in highschool. She had the same blond hair, green eyes, and to much make up. She was wearing a orange dress with white heels. She seemed to sparkle with all the glitter on her.
"Kate you remember Jane!" Amy grabbed a girl.
"Jane! You look so different"
Kate still looked the same with light brown hair, blue eyes and still had no idea how to put a outfit together. She was wearing a pink dress, orange heels and red lipstick. She had been Amy's best friend in highschool.
The only thing I could think was please someone, anyone yell my name or let these girls see someone else they know. I just have to survive alittle longer. I wish Ricky was here.
