Natsu woke up to Happy purring in his sleep while he laid on top of his stomach. The blue cat was curled into a little ball and was covered with a bathroom rag for a blanket. Natsu still felt nothing but his back felt sore from sleeping on the wood. He gently picked up his buddy, laying him onto the soft bed and quietly made his way into the kitchen.
He didn't want to look at himself right now. He knew he probably had tear stained cheeks and red eyes. Probably with bags under them. He felt like hell. All he wanted to do was watch Netflix with Happy and stay under warm blankets. But he couldn't.
It was that time of the month. Paying rent. Though he lived in this house for years and that he practically bought it, he still wanted running water and lights as well as the heat on, thanks. He could just use candles as light or the fireplace that they have, but decided not to.
The wolf sighed weakly, grabbing a mug and some milk, getting the vanilla coffee cream and sugar, mixing all three ingredients with the fresh coffee grounds, smiling faintly at the dark color swirling into a light brown. He sipped his drink and headed back into his room, grabbing a new shirt and some red shorts, he changed into his clothes with a heavy heart and slipped his sandals on.
He trudged into the bathroom, slowly looking up at his face. He looked ridiculous. His hair was tousled everywhere, his eyes were puffy and had dark bags under his eyes, his cheeks were stained with tears. He hated himself right now. He fell for an asshole.
He turned the water on and cupped his hands, enjoying how the warm water started leaving tingles on his palms. He splashed the water onto his face and dried his hands and face off, brushed his teeth and tried to comb his hair down with his hand.
Not feeling ready, he downed the rest of his coffee and headed outside, leaving a note on the kitchen counter for Happy so he wouldn't flip out once he woke up. Natsu twitched, and held his stomach, forcing himself to transform into his wolf form.
The wolf howled in sadness and headed out slowly, not wanting to head to the guild. Juvia was probably bombarding the Guild that her Gray-sama and her had a lovely night. He growled just thinking about it. The dirt under his paws snapped him back into reality and made him focus on the real world.
He jogged on all fours through the lovely town, keeping his head low and slipping past people. He got petted at least a few times by small children on his way, so he picked his pace up a bit.
Natsu sat on the stone ground, panting and trying to catch his breath. Hell, it was better than walking so he couldn't complain. He forced his legs to move over to the job board and plopped down on his stomach, lazily looking up at the flyers.
The guild was louder than usual, mostly from the kids giggling and chasing each other and that Juvia was loudly talking with Lucy and Erza at their own table. His sensitive ears caught out 'Gray-sama' and 'romantic night.' Oh of course. He knew it, Gray left so he could mess with Juvia. He understood it now.
His stomach grumbled and the wolf cursed himself before shakily making up way onto all fours and walked over to the bar stool. Jumping onto the seat and wobbling a bit, he got himself onto the counter then looked over at Mira. The white-haired girl glanced over and studied the wolf.
"Pink fur.. Natsu?" he barked at his name being called. That got the Guild quiet. People looked around.
One person called out, "Is there some sort of dog in here?! Where is it? I wanna pet it!"
"Nu-uh! I call dibs first! I heard it first!" Natsu looked wearily at his nakama. This wasn't gonna end good.
And curse his luck, Mirajane just had to call out, holding him up from under his arms. "Natsu looks so cute as a wolf!" she giggled and glared coldly at the guild members rushing over to pet him with smiles on their faces. "I get to pet him first since I saw him first!" everyone groaned while Natsu howled in confusion.
What the hell is going on? He got set onto the counter and he was about to run off but gentle fingers started rubbing behind his ears, letting out a loud purr. He closed his eyes and flopped down onto the counter, earning aws on how cute he looked, but it didn't faze him.
When Mirajane stopped Natsu whined and looked over at her, earning more aws behind him. "Me next, Natsu-san!" Wendy giggled happily and sat up in the stool, caressing his ears and earned another purr in agreement. The line was long and even Gajeel wanted to pet the little fur-ball.
After everyone got their turn of petting the almost sound asleep Natsu, they went back to their places, talking softer than before. Seemed like they were happy again. Natsu barked and grabbing his fire-sticks and hopping off the counter, running over to the stage.
He plopped down on the wooden floor and used his paws to keep his fire-sticks still, gnawing at his food, and not minding the mumbles on how cute he looked. He seemed pretty focused that he didn't even notice some girls coming over to the stage and sitting down in a circle, one girl gently rubbing behind his ears.
Natsu purred and laid his head onto the girl's lap, and felt his eyes get heavy after he ate his breakfast. He fell asleep due to having his guild members ogling him at his cuteness. Little did he know that a vampire hiding the shadows was watching over him while hiding from a loud blue-haired girl looking for him.
