He spun on his heel to see his shoulder, fresh blood was running down his back. Courtney shot around when she heard Jeanette's words and held his back so it was facing her. There were numerous teeth holes in his shoulder, the skin was ripped and flesh was peeling off. The blood was running down his back, pumping out like he'd cut an artery.
"You don't feel that?" Courtney asked in a panic, spinning him round to see his face. He looked surprised and shook his head, looking over his shoulder to see the wound. Nate had approached now and Jane was turning her head, covering her mouth at the sight.
"No..." Ross mumbled in fascination, prodding at it with his finger. Courtney slapped his hand away when more blood came gushing out.
"Must be the adrenaline..." Jeanette trailed off in thought, biting the tip of her finger. She snapped out of her trance when she noticed that everyone was looking at her. "Okay. Ross, sit in the boot. Jane, can you get my med kit, please? It's in my bag." Jane nodded and ran to the Range Rover boot, pulling most of the bags out to give Ross and Jeanette some room.
Ross moved and sat in the area made for him. Jeanette made him twist his body so she could have better access to his shoulder. She turned her engagement ring on her finger, something she always did when she was nervous or in deep thought.
"Here." Jane handed Jeanette the first aid kit and watched as she got to work. The box was quite big for a first aid kit.
She took it from Jane and sat it beside Ross, opening it up. The inside was neatly organised, everything had a place and an order.
"I had this one at home, I just took more supplies from the base," Jeanette answered before Jane could ask. Jane nodded and smiled slightly at the fact that Jeanette knew what she was going to ask.
As Jeanette started pulling out sutures, bandages and rubbing alcohol, Jane turned and walked away, feeling queasy at the sight of it all. Hospitals always made her feel ill, she hated it when Drew was stuck in the base.
Courtney was standing facing Ross, watching as Jeanette worked behind him. His face scrunched up in pain and he groaned.
Her eyes snapped to him. "You feel it now?" She asked jokingly, smiling at him. He groaned and sent her a playful glare, hissing when Jeanette dabbed alcohol on his wound.
"I have to stitch it up, then you should be okay," Jeanette said, her eyes focused on her work. Her lip was between her teeth and she tilted her head to the side. Courtney nodded and looked back down to Ross, his eyes were scrunched up, his mouth grimacing at the searing pain in his back.
"Could it be infected?" Ross asked over his shoulder. His eyes were open now, but his jaw was clenched. Jeanette stayed concentrated on her work and turned to get something else from her kit, when she was facing them again she answered.
"I don't know." She replied honestly, knowing it was better not to lie. "That dog wasn't exactly healthy, probably carrying other blood and diseases." She moved her hands skillfully, she'd stitched up wounds many times before, she was just going to have to get used to doing it out of a hospital.
"What if the dog had drank water? Would there be some in its mouth." Nate asked from the side, Courtney didn't even realise he was there. Courtney looked over to him. He was biting his nail, his eyes observing Jeanette's every move. Jeanette stopped what she was doing and looked up to him.
"Then he'd be dead already." She stated simply, turning her attention back to the matter at hand. "Does it hurt much?" She asked, pausing and letting her hands hover over the wound. Ross shook his head.
