So far, I've been in this wretched place for about 2 months now and I can't help but miss my family. They probably all think I'm dead by now. All the Circle does is torture me for information about that important list I saw when I was younger. Even though I can hardly remember it, I'd never give it to them. When it comes to the Circle you expect the worst.
Sitting there wondering if I'm ever going to get out of this place, I hear keys turning in my cell door and I know this only means one thing: time for my daily torturing. UGH!!!. "Get up, Catherine wants you" A husky voice calls. I slowly lift my head up to see a man grabbing my arms roughly and leading me through a completely new corridor I've never seen before.
Out of the corner if my eye, I spot an airvent in the ceiling. YES!!!. This is my ticket to freedom. It's my first time seeing an actual way out and I'm not going to take any chances of losing it. I slowly inch my way towards the man's neck and pressed a couple pressure points that will knock him out cold for a few hours and the guy slumped down onto the floor.
After making sure nobody was coming, I slowly hauled myself up the airvent making sure nobody heard me. Nearly screaming out in pain because they had practically broken most of my bones, I crawled my way out of that prison and was surrounded by a forest. "Why do they have to make everything in the middle of a forest" I angrily whispered to myself. It was almost sunset and that worked to my advantage allowing me to blend into the shadows of the trees. My codename isn't Chameleon for nothing you know. All of a sudden, ear-peircing sirens sounded through the air indicating to the Circle that a prisoner has escaped. They probably mean me. Because of this, people in black start piling out if the Circle base trying to find me so I started to try and run faster without falling because my legs felt like a hammer kept bashing into them.
After what felt like hours of running I reached a station that had cargo ships sailing to different places. Virginia was what I was looking for since my boarding school was there and I had finally found one but it was just about to set sail. "WAIT!" I screamed but all that came out was a hoarse whisper that barely sounded like anything so I ran as if my life depended on it. Well it probably did but you know what I mean. Jumping on just in time I walked in a couple steps before I felt like the world had turned upside down and I blacked out near a couple of crates full of food
'HONK HONK!' Sounded from the horn of the ship startling me from my restful sleep. Then I realised that we were about to stop on shore for the end of the journey so I quickly looked at a map of where I was and realised that I had just escaped off an island called Lone Island before jumping in one of the crates that were about to be loaded into a lorry to be taken to Virginia.
After a few hours, the lorry had finally arrived and I could see the Gallagher Academy not that far away so I waited for the lorry to open while the man unloading it went to the back. Carefully stepping out, I noticed that I was on a familiar road that was connected to an alleyway which led to my school. I limped my way towards the front gates of the academy nearly collapsing a few times but managed to make my way to one of the guards that was called Mark who was a very good friend of mine before I was taken by the Circle.
"Cammie is that you?!" Mark called
I gave him a faint smile showing that it was me before my knees nearly gave way again but luckily he had already rushed over to me helping me walk properly before telling me he was going to take me to the school infirmary."Can you t-take me to my mum first I w-want to see her please?" I stuttered out
"Of course. She's in the dining hall with the rest of the school" he replied before leading me over there.
The corridors were all empty considering that lunch had just started as Mark helped me towards the double doors leading to the dining hall. As he swung open the doors the whole school turned to face me with their eyes wide and their jaws hanging open with disbelief. Even though I hated all this attention I just wanted to see my best friends, my mum and Zach who had been their for me all the time.
"Headmistress Morgan!" Mark called over to my mum who practically sprinted over to me yelling "Cammie is that really you?" She said as tears clouded her eyes
"Hi mum" I smiled at her so wide that my mouth started to ache.
Suddenly, all my best friends Bex, Macey, Liz and my boyfriend, Zach were by my side hugging me to death along with my mum and i screamed out in pain so loud because most of my bones were broken until they realised that it was hurting me so they released me and started helping me stand up whilst bombarding me with tons of questions like :"Cammie what happened?"
"Why are you covered in bruises? "
"Where were you?""Why did you leave?"
Until my mum got fed up she shouted "That's enough questions for now I think Cammie needs to go to the infirmary and get her rest!" Whilst they all mumbled their sorry's and I just whispered "The circle got me" to answer some of their questions before my throat started to feel like sand and I was so dizzy that my vision started to go weak. The last thing I saw were worried faces crowding around me and some if my classmates had joined too right before my world went completely black...
