Astrid's POV
"Only a few more days." My husband said climbing into bed next to me. I took a deep breathe with my right hand resting on my protruding belly. I was due any day now with our first child. We decided we didn't want to know what it was. Hiccup thought it was a boy, of course. I thought it was a girl.
"I know. It's a little scary." I said looking at my stomach and seeing it move. I smiled. "Here." I said taking his hand and putting it on my stomach. "Push on it."
"Push on it?" he asked. I nodded.
"Yeah, the baby will push back." I said. Hiccup pushed slightly on a part of my stomach and the baby did as I predicted. He or she pushed back against Hiccup's hand. Hiccup did this with the baby for like 5 or 10 minutes. "Okay, say goodnight." I said. Hiccup chuckled and leaned forward kissing my stomach.
"Goodnight Baby Haddock." He said. "We're gonna meet you soon." Hiccup laid down and I cuddled up to him. Well the best I could with a protruding belly. We soon fell asleep.

A few days went by.
Hiccup was at work and I was home alone. Everything made me out of breathe. Even simple tasks. I got up from the couch holding my back and doing my pregnant walk. Which I thought I waddled like a penguin; and went to the kitchen. I opened the fridge to find something to eat, again. I had just finished something like a half an hour ago and was already hungry.
After a few more hours I went upstairs to have a nap and when I got to the top of the stairs I felt a lot of pain and felt something break. I felt water on my feet and looked down. I sat down on the top step and breathed heavily taking out my phone. I called Hiccup.
It kept ringing.
"Hiccup, pick up your phone!" I said to myself.
H: Astrid! are you okay?
A: You need...to come...home.
H: What's wrong?
A: My...water broke...
H: Oh gods! Okay. I'll be right there.
He hung up and I put my phone in my sweater pocket. I gripped the railing as I felt a contraction. After about 10 mins I saw the door open.
"Astrid!" Hiccup called.
"I'm...right...here!" I said. He looked up at me and ran up the stairs. He sat next to me.
"We need to get you to the hospital." He said. He helped me up and down the stairs and in the car. He ran back in and grabbed the over night bag we had ready already and brought into the car and got in.
On the way to the hospital. I kept groaning in pain.
"Hiccup... this baby is coming.... now." I said breathing heavily. "Hurry up!!!"
"Astrid! I'm going as fast as I can!" Hiccup said. He was taking glances at me, make sure I was okay. We finally got to the hospital and Hiccup parked the car. He grabbed our bag and came and helped me. We went into the emergency room and Hiccup had me sit down and went up to the nurse.
"How can I help you?" She said.
"My wife, is in labor. Her water broke." He told her.
"How long ago?" She asked.
"About 30 mins now." He said.
"I need a wheelchair please!" She said. Another nurse came and gave her a wheelchair. The nurse came out with Hiccup and came over to me they helped me into the wheelchair. We went to the elevator and she was bringing us up to the delivery floor. My contractions were only about 3 minutes apart now and extremely painful.
We got to the floor and the nurses at the desk got up quickly and took over. They brought me to a room and got me into the bed. Hiccup was beside me. The nurses put an IV on me and one of them got the doctor. He came in and checked me.
"This baby is almost crowning. Would you get everything ready." He said to the nurses.
I was holding Hiccup's hand. He had tied my hair up in a bun for me.
"You ready Astrid?" The doctor asked. "I need you to push in a minute."
I nodded. Soon enough I was pushing and squeezing Hiccup's hand so tight. It didn't take too long, about an hour and we heard a curdling scream of a baby.
"It's a girl!" They said. I looked at Hiccup and smiled and he kissed my head. They cut the cord and took her to clean her her up.
After they were done cleaning me up and our daughter they handed her to Hiccup. Hiccup sat beside me on the bed and looked at me smiling.
"Name?" I asked smiling back. He looked at her.
"She looks just like you." He said. " Astra." He said. I smiled at him. "It's almost your name, but no 'i' and an 'a' instead of a 'd'. He said. I kissed his cheek.
"I like it." I told him. He handed her to me and I held her. I smiled at her. "Hi, Astra." I said sweetly. I kissed her head.
Hiccup and I sat there in the bed holding our little one that just became part of our family.

All done!! I haven't wrote a one-shot for a while so this was fun!!!
