Author's Note: This poem is the third chapter of my work The Clock Exploits. The chapter went too abstract, so I felt the emotion was better conveyed through a poem. I woke up at the dawn of birth,
For that was the only dawn I knew;
I walked along the line to see,
For that was the only line I saw anew.I swam the water to get to the other side,
I made a boat to ride the mad waves,
I saw the shore but not the ride,
The ride itself was infinite,
And there was no shore.The castles I made to suffice,
Were to protect my soul from the mad waves;
I looked down from the crevice,
My soul itself was infinite,
And there was no castle.I walked back across the line to find the start of it all,
The dawn visible in the distance;
The dawn that spoke of birth.
I reached to touch the light that shone within.Only to realise what could not die could not be born.
