I slammed the cover of my pastel blue binder closed as our English teacher called out the homework we needed to complete.

"Finish your chapter reviews, write two essays with the prompts provided and prepare for your English exams!" Ms Singh smiled brightly, too brightly. I sighed, knowing that she'd be torturing us in those exam rooms. I then hurried out the door with Samirah and Hayley by my side, my long dark braid swinging down my navy blue blazer.

"I can't believe she's making us do more essays, even after all that studying we have to do." I groaned while sliding the classroom door shut, Hayley and Samirah nodding as we walked down the corridor.

"It's ridiculous! I mean, she does realise some of us want to have social lives? Or lives in general besides work?" Hayley complained, her light blue highlights matching her eyes.

"Ugh I know." Samirah said in agreement as we finally burst through the doors of the corridor.

"Hey I have an idea. Wanna come over to my house so we can study? The libraries will probably be packed with students from all over Allyleton, particularly Allyleton High." Samirah suggested with a small grin.

"Yes! Just as long as we get study snacks such as popcorn, sweets and more importantly, Dylan O'Brien."

Hayley nodded in agreement.

"Especially Dylan O'Brien."

We all giggled as we headed to our dark lockers, glad to be leaving hell, also known as school. I spun the dial of my lock around, stopping on certain numbers.

16. 32. 16.

Damn it, I thought as my lock wouldn't budge.

16. 32. 16.

My lock finally opened and I sighed in relief, stuffing my books into my bag, making sure that my copy of The Maze Runner didn't get squashed or damaged in anyway.

Call me a bookworm, but I always carry a book with me everywhere. You never know when you could get bored.

"So we have homework from every single subject we had today?" Hayley called out from a few lockers away.

"Yep." Both me and Samirah replied sorrowfully. All that homework we're going to have to do. Plus studying.

Rest in peace, Imitation of the Golden Trio.

Cause of death: Suffocated under mountains of homework.

How pleasant.

I finally finished packing my bag and zipped up the pockets while waiting for my friends expectantly as other students rushed out the gates. Boy am I glad that school ended. But the suffering obviously didn't. When they finally finished, Samirah being the last one to slam her locker shut, we headed towards the tall school gates, which was filled with students exiting the school. I got shoved by a couple of seniors on my way out, who I shot death glares at while waiting for Hayley and Samirah to emerge from the crowd.

"We're finally out of hell. Damn, this is pleasing. But now we're going to be met with the hellish substance called homework." Hayley voiced my own thoughts with a sarcastic happiness that almost dripped from her melodious voice.

"Unfortunately yes." I sighed as we walked together, side by side, stopping when we reached Samirah's car. She had recently learnt how to drive and was rather proud of her silver coloured car, and kept it in as best condition as possible.

Samirah opened her gleaming car door while gesturing for us to do the same. I slid into the other front seat while Hayley crashed in the back seat. When we had buckled our seat belts, she smoothly reversed out of the parking lot and headed towards her home, the radio playing a Fall Out Boy song.
