Mondays are the worst. To start off this wonderful day, I was late for work and my boss just happened to be walking by my office as I tried to sneak in unnoticed. He reminded me that this was my second time being late this month and if I continued to be tardy, he would have to dock some of my pay. My boss wasn’t a mean man; he just liked everything to be particular and routine.
During my break, I stopped at a coffee shop to get some coffee and lunch. My day had been looking better and I was in a good mood! But of course that had to change. I paid for my coffee and was walking out of the shop when some idiot talking on his cell phone ran into me. My hot drink spilled all over my white blouse, but thankfully didn’t burn me. The guy muttered an apology and kept going.
Five o’clock finally came and I packed up my things and headed home. I realized that I needed to pick up some money to pay some bills, so I stopped at the bank. I parked my car, headed inside and groaned internally when I saw the line-up. I took my place in line and looked at the messages on my phone to pass the time. The man standing in front of me turned around and smiled at me. He looked in his twenties and was he ever attractive! His blue eyes sparkled as we made small talk and I felt my knees go weak every time the corners of his mouth turned upwards.
“I’m Liam, by the way,” he introduced himself.
“I’m Gwen,” I replied with a smile.
He grinned and said, “What a pretty name for a pretty lady.”
I felt a faint blush stain my cheeks and as I was about reply, I heard a high pitched scream. Turning my head, I noticed three men in black ski masks storm in the building, waving guns in the air and telling everyone to get on the ground.
