I sat down and ate my ice-cream. Yummy Ben&Jerry's ice-cream! I licked up the cookie dough off the spoon and savoured the taste. Laura sat next to me and ate her own food, she laughed and pointed to one of the babies in a double pram. The baby squirmed and then looked at us and giggled.

"Is my face that funny?" I said sounding serious. Laura laughed even louder now so the lady with the pram stared at us.

"Oh no, Mrs.MoodyBottom doesn't like your laugh!" I whispered, Laura finally stopped laughing and stood up. Her eyes looked at me concerned.

"My mum will kill me, lets go home. Do you have money for a cab?" she asked sternly.

"I have a twenty pound note so that should do." I placed my hand in my jeans pocket and double checked. We nodded and called a taxi. We waited and waited for the taxi and when it finally arrived the driver had no manners. Laura and I scrambled into the car and eventually sat down. 

"Where are you two going today?" his voice made me shudder, I said for him to go to GreenDale Road. It was around the block from my house. Laura lived close by too, so when we arrived we had a quick chat before she walked home.

"So I'll see you soon. Yeah?" I smiled cheerily, Laura nodded and went on her way. I looked back at her walking down the road before I opened the door. She fell to the floor as a loud bang shook my ears. My heart stopped for a sudden moment and I couldn't move. But when I could it was too late,

"Laura! What happened?! Are you ok?!" I shouted as tears exploded from my eyes. She tried to get up but failed. I put my arm around her and held her close to me.

"Someone call an ambulance! Quick, she's been shot!" I cried, blood dripped from her chest I heard that putting pressure on it helped so I did. My hands were bloodied by the bullet hole in her.  

"Anna, listen to me." Laura whispered, her voice couldn't help but trail away. I looked at her longingly.

"I'll kill whoever did this to you." I screamed, an ambulance and police car wails grew louder by the second. Then it hit me, there must of been a witness or something. They could help me!

"Did anyone see what happened?!" I shouted, I saw some boy in a hood standing there watching us. A gun dropped from his hand, police cars pulled up.

"Don't leave me Anna. You're my best friend..." Laura reached out to me as she saw me looking away. I wiped away my tears and nodded to her. There were no words I could use to speak.

I held Laura close to me and dreaded being shot by the person across the road. But if I did I'd die with someone I love. I love her because she is my best friend, no one and I mean no one compares to her.

"Put your hands up!" a policeman shouted at the person in the hood. He pulled off the hood and put his hands up. I physically slapped myself at that point.

"George...?" I mouthed, he looked at me and nodded. Was-was he drunk? Or wasn't he? I don't know what worried me more... The ambulance took Laura and me to the hospital, I sat down with her and cried the whole way.

Slowly the ambulance stopped and I got out. I held my friend's hand the whole way as she was carried on the stretcher. I saw Laura open her eyes as we entered the hospital she seemed confused but then she noticed her wound.

"If- if I die here-" Laura whispered, but I cut her off.

"Don't say that! You won't die..." I tried to sound strong but I sounded worried. 

"You were my best friend, I'm glad I'll die here with you." this time I let her finish, but tears rolled down my eyes. Laura's hand rolled onto mine and held my hand weakly. I squeezed hers and wouldn't let go.

"I promise that won't happen! Just... Just believe me. Please?" my voice was shaky and so were my hands.

All she did was nod. I was scared in case that was the last thing she did. Nod... How could I let this happen? How could George let this happen? That's it! I'm never going to trust him again! My own brother?! Drunk or not, I will NEVER forgive him!

"I hope he goes to prison." I said softly, my voice finally calmed down as we reached Laura's ward. She looked so worried and scared.

Later on I was still sitting next to her while the doctors rushed around. Then Laura's head dropped and lolled.

"Laura? Laura?! Laura!!" I shook her violently, she can't be gone! She can't leave me now!

"Help! She's dying! Help, someone help she's dying!" I screamed, doctors rushed over and took her to another place. In the emergency department. We were there but the doctors looked busy so they didn't take her to the proper one. They did now though, the had to.

"I need to get in!" I pleaded constantly outside the room Laura was in. A young woman kept me out though, I'd tried so hard. I could only sit out of the room on a chair.

"What if she'd died and I didn't say a proper goodbye?" I moped to myself and the nurse looked sorrily at me. My heart stopped as a doctor opened the door and called my name. The man led me to a room near the operation 'station' next to Laura's room. I could see the silhouette of another doctor sighing and leaving the body. A different doctor was still operating on Laura. I was still crying after seeing this horrific scene.

"I'm sorry, this is the hardest part of my job. Your friend-"

"Laura! Her- her name's Laura." I cut him off.

"Well, Laura didn't make it. Her wound was too severe and we didn't make it in time. I'm really sorry about your loss.

"You must of been her favourite friend, and she must of been yours too. I'm glad the last person she saw was you." he added softly. My eyes met his and we both smiled weakly.

"Thanks. Can...I see her for one last time?" I whispered slowly. I felt his arm on my shoulder as he nodded. Before I went in he gathered everyone out.
