They were both 2 now, and Sugar was an amazing dog. She was very intelligent, as well. She never barked or bit anyone. The whole family loved her.
Turns out, both Sugar and Marie were born in March, and in the same year! They were practically twins!
One warm summer day, Joan and Mick were washing the car. Nobody was watching, so Marie slipped out the door. Sugar padded behind her. Marie let her curiosity take over, as she waddled down to the creek. Marie loved water, so she hopped in. Before you knew it, Marie was in the water...drowning!
Marie screamed and cried. Sugar took action very quickly. She bit the back of Marie's shirt and dragged her out. Marie lie down next to the creek, as Sugar darted to the house. She barked and nipped at Mick for his attention. She ran back to the creek, constantly checking if Mick was following. He was, of course. When they arrived back at the creek, Mick's jaw dropped.
"Marie, we were looking everywhere for you," Mick said as he picked Marie up. He peered down at Sugar. "Good girl."
Mick walked home with Marie in his arms, and Sugar by his side. He was going to tell everyone this story, even Marie. At that moment, Sugar was the best dog ever.
