"Now, I'm going to ask you this one more time. Why did you shoot Al Burns?!" I was furious, if I wasn't a cop, I would've killed him myself.

He sighed "You really wanna know why your friend was shot?" He questioned, raising his eyebrows. I narrowed my eyes at him and nodded.

"I.Don't.Know." He smirked "But I have a feeling you're gonna find out sooner or later." I flinched. Nina glanced at my sudden movement, slowly walking towards me. "Carrie..." she started as she caught me just as I lunged at him.

I wanted him dead.

The fear in his eyes came back to life, but only for a second. He seemed worried as he kept glancing down at his watch. I arched an eyebrow at his reaction but began to calm down. I sat down in the chair across from him while Nina stood, cautiously as she kept her eyes on me. I rolled my eyes, focusing all of my attention on him, "Where were you the time Al was shot?"

"Easy, I was at a carnival" He winked.

My blood boiled as I clenched my fists. I took a deep breath, trying to control myself. Parts of my red hair, matted to my sweaty face.

He was testing me. But his smirk quickly faltered as he looked down at his watch.

"Busy are we?" I asked with suspicion. He looked up and shrugged it off. "It's nothing."

"Look Mr..-"

"Mark"

"Excuse me?"

"The name's Mark, Mark Norcross"

Days have passed since I last seen Al, he was in good condition and would be able to come home any day now.

But until then, I have been working day and night trying to find a solid alibi that can get "Mark" behind bars

I ran a hand through my hair and sighed. Until an idea came across me.

"Well... that's perfectly fine if you don't want to answer our questions" I told him. "We would be glad to keep you here longer, until you do."

His eyes widened and he started to stutter, trying to find something to say. He looked me in the eyes and I raised my eyebrows. He sighed as if being defeated and I smiled triumphantly.

"There's a guy and you know he's the one that killed them because he always leaves a pattern."

"What kind of pattern?"

"He likes to kill in alphabetical order by first name, and he always shoots his victim in the heart, or at least tries to.."

"What's his name?!" I asked a bit too anxiously.

"I don't know!" He said. My expression immediately changed, I narrowed my eyes and slowly rose up my chair. He backed up in his chair until the wall stopped him. Nina immediately pushed me against the opposite wall, pinning me down as I struggled to loosen her grip.

"You're lying." I said in between clenched teeth.

"I-I really don't know! I-"

"What's going on here?" I turned my head to see a concerned Al at the door. The hospital must've released him today. He looked better than ever..

"Carrie?" He said, pulling me out of my thoughts, his eyebrows pulling together. I opened my mouth trying to find something to say, but nothing came out. He looked at Nina, then Mark and then back me. He walked up to Nina and I, and put a hand on her shoulder, nodding his head. She let go of me and backed up.

"Let's chat in my office Carrie, okay?"

"But-" I started, but he gave me a knowing look that shut me up. I turned to Nina, "Stay in here and try and get more information." She nodded and sat down across from Mark as Al guided me out.

"What the hell are you doing?!" He whisper-yelled as soon he closed the door to his office. I tilted my head and looked up at him. "Al, that man is somewhat related to your attempt murder. He says he knows a guy that could've done it! We just have to-"

"No"

No?

"What do you mean no?!" I said closing my eyes, trying to control my throbbing eyebrow.

"I mean you're not doing this case anymore, it's not healthy for you. So from here on out, you are off the case."

I opened my eyes and gave him a death stare. My face was glazed for a split-second and then I frowned, my lips pursed together and my eyes unblinking, at that moment, if my eyes were a weapon, the piercing look in them could have caused serious destruction and like I was a lion and he just went in my territory and I'm about to attack. "What do you mean you're kicking me off?! Al-"

"Remember, when you tried to find who killed your sister?! Huh?! Remember how it messed you up. I can't have that happen to you again. I'll have maybe Nina and Roe take over. You need to relax, you're stressing yourself badly."

I then stopped talking , my fists started to clench, out of fustration, I banged my hand against the wall. "Fine."

"Fine?"

"Yeah, you're absolutely right, I need time to relax. I'm just overreacting. I guess I should go now.." I said bitterly. I started for the door, but before I could wrap my hand on the door knob, Al grabbed my hand and twirled me into him. Our faces were just inches apart. He leaned in for the kiss, but I resisted. I pulled away, patted his chest and hurried out.

I heard something slam to the ground, but I didn't even bother to turn around. I kept walking until I saw Jay on the phone, and Nina and Roe talking. "Hey guys." I said grinning. Nina tilted her head in my sudden change, and brushed it off with a smile. "Feeling better?" "Perfect actually, I just need to talk to you guys about-"

"Uh Carrie, we got a call for you."
I looked over Nina's shouder and saw Jay holding the phone, I ran a hand through my hair, trying to control the migraine that was creeping inside my head. Who could that be anyway? "Tell them to call later, we're kinda busy right now Jay!" I turned back to Nina, "Okay, as I was saying-" "Carrie, this number is calling from the White House." I immediately stopped talking. He held the phone, covering the microphone.

The White House? This must be a joke.

The whole room was silent as I walked to the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hello Carrie Wells, the president and I have an important situation and we heard about your special little gift and we were hoping you and your partner could help us. This could also be related to your partner's attempted murder case."

"Uh, of course!..how'd you about know that by the way? I made sure no news reporters were there." I said while still processing the information. This was unbelievable! A chance to help the president and find whoever shot Al.

"I know many things Carrie" She said, while I believe smirking over the other end of the phone.

"...May I ask who is speaking with me right now?"

I heard a stiff laugh covered by a fake cough on the other end on the line, as if I had insulted her.

"My name is Olivia Pope."
