"No! It's Final. You will marry Emily whether you like her or not! This is not supposed to benefit you! It's for our kingdom. Are you really going to be so selfish?" my father yells at me.

"This isn't fair! I don't love her! I don't care if it's for the kingdom!" I yell back. He may be my father but he can't make me marry someone like Emily. She is rude and is mean to me in every way possible. It also doesn't help because i'm gay.

"Nothing is fair, Vikk," he sighs "You will marry Emily tomorrow. If you don't, I'm sorry I have to say this, but you will be executed." How could he say that to me. His own flesh and blood.

I stomp down the hall with my head down. My raven black hair falling slightly over my eyes. I turn down the hall as I brush it away. As I turn towards the direction of my room I come face to face with Emily. Her piercing blue eyes glare at me as I take a quick step back.

"Oh my gosh!" she exclaims, her voice dripping with sarcasm. I roll my eyes as she starts again with her annoying high pitch voice. "I can't believe I have to marry someone like you!" she says, making a face of disgust. "I have standards. You're stupid, you don't even try to talked to me and you're plain ugly." I study her features as she holds her glare. She had long black hair reaching to the middle of her back, pale skin that looked ghostly and those eyes that could haunt anyone's dreams.

"I wouldn't marry you if I had a choice," I say quietly, sending back her hard glare. She give me a look as if saying 'You're dead'

"What did you say?" she screeches. "Just leave then that way we both get what we want. I want your kingdom as well as you dead and you don't have to marry me. Plain and simple," She says with a smug look on her face.

I push past her, anger flooding my veins. I race down the hall and into my room. I still hear her yelling as I slam my door shut. I lazily flop onto my bed as I weigh my options. Leave and never come back or stay and marry the woman of my nightmares. Leaving means that i would leave all my friends and family. Well the family who's going to put a death threat on my head.
At least leaving means I have some chance for happiness. I pull at my hair in frustration as I try to decide what to do next. I reach under my bed and pull out a dusty suitcase. I run around my room quickly collecting things that I'd need for living off the grid for as long as possible. I look at my watch to see it is only 7:30pm. I look out of my window and into the forest on the outskirts of the castle. I peer down to the gate about thirty feet below  to see it guarded. A helpful fact I have learned over the years is that after all the supervisors go to sleep at 11, the guards fool around.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When the clock strikes eleven, I pick up the suitcase and tiptoe out of my room. As I make my way down the hall about to turn the corner, I hear someone walking briskly not to far away. I quickly hid behind one of the many pillars in the hall. The person, which just so happened to be a guard, walks past and as soon as their footsteps disappeared I raced around the corner to the main door. I push the door open and step into the cool night air. I duck into the shadows almost instantly. I quietly make it to around 15 feet of the gate when i step on a twig. The snap sound echoes through the wall. Instantly everything goes quiet.

"Who's there?" Someone yells from across the gate.

"Maybe it was an animal or something" A different voice says. I inch up to the corner, being careful where I step. I look around the corner to see the guards fooling off again. I slip through the gate.

As soon as I reach the forest the guards start yelling and chasing after me. I run, weaving through trees. Soon a clearance makes its way into my view. A small cottage was  placed in the middle. I quickly looked back to see if any guards were close, which they weren't. I knocked on the door. The door opened to a boy that looked around the same age as myself.

"Hi, sorry for bothering you but could you hide me from people that are chasing after me? I'll tell you everything once they leave" I say fairly quick.

"Sure, Come in" He says opening the door and moving out of the way. I slip inside, thanking him quietly. "Go to the room down the hall the first one on the right. You can hide in the closet" I nod and quickly made my way down the hall. I hid in the closet and shut the door right when a loud knock made its way through the house. I barely hear what is being said but soon I hear the door close. "You can come out now" I hear the boy say. I slowly make my way out off the closet to see him sitting on the edge of a bed in the far corner of the room.

"Thank you, again. How could i repay you?"

"How about telling me why you're running away? I know you're the prince, Vikk. The men told me you were," I sigh running a hand through my now messy hair.

"I ran away because I was being forced into marriage. I can't ever stand the girl I was supposed to marry," He nodded showing he understood.

"My name is Lachlan by the way" He said holding his hand out to shake, which i did. "So do you mind if it call you the runaway prince?"

That's it! I wrote it for school but instead of Lachlan it was a girl named Bailey. This was a idea from my friend to props to her. Bye :)
